The defensive issues are not just on the back 4. Midfield do not provide enough cover, and goalkeeping is also suspect.
Think it was a mistake going into the season with Caldwell as a stater in...
Part of the thing with past coaches that have done better defensively is they did not do it finding a balance between attack and defense. It was pack the defense and hope for the best in attack.
...
Another 15 points would have made us supporters shield winners by 4 points. I just don't see us at that level.
That said - another 5 points would have seen us in 3rd (Supporters Shield) & 2nd in...
To be fair thought, Robbo also doesn't have Giovinco...
Mourinho should be on the market as well after another game or two :hump:
If Vanney goes - we should hire Ray Hudson. Has MLS experience, won the supporters shield, and most importantly would make TFC interviews highly entertaining. Sounds like something out of "the...
Or if Giovinco decides he doesn't like Vanneys tactics and starts suggesting they need an Italian style...
NYRB did it as well. Dead last in the East in 2009, first in the East in 2010.
DC are an interesting case. Olsen, a manager with no experience took over mid-season in 2010 and had a record of...
This is harder than you think. There is a big difference between dealing with big name players and the "lowly" MLS regulars. Not a lot of managers are going to have that range of experience.
And...
If rumors of Bradley's influence are true, then Vanney is in a tough spot. His hands are tied there.
The coaches power should be absolute. As soon as it's not, he is screwed.
Just imagine if we'd kept MoJo. We'd be a dynasty by now.
I hate to harp on the point, but Jozy and Gio had a lot to do with those points as well, not Vanney's coaching.
How did Seattle do it then?
^^there is also the case of taking on high salary squad players like Findlay.
Vanney is not totally at fault here, a lot of blame goes to Bez.
You have to ask the question though if part of the revolving door of coaches is simply part of the culture, or is it an effect of continually hiring inexperienced people and watching them learn on...
The same reason that Defoe, or Bradley or Giovinco would. The money.
^^offer Arena or Schmidt 6 million a year and see what happens.
I agree - but only if someone better is lined up. To repeat the pattern of firing him and replacing him with whoever happens to be available is a bad idea.
Sir Alex repeatedly said the second a player becomes bigger than the manager - the manager has lost the team.
If the stuff about Bradley doing what he wants is true , then Vanney HS lost the team...
See my post above.
Do you attribute that to Vanney's ability as a coach or two of our DP's snatching points for us? Big difference. With the exception of the Vancouver game - it's the latter IMHO
