was thinking about this and re-signing osorio and adding vasquez would make a lot of sense (assuming reasonable numbers, of course).
between them you can basically get a full season worth of minutes at a high level in the creative midfield position.
Btw Hedges reportedly wants 3 guaranteed years on his next contract, and the Quakes may be the only ones willing to offer that, so I really hope we have plan B and C lined up for all our prospective signings.
I very much doubt we do but it’s that hope that kills you
Not according to MLS website, although in fairness now that I think of it, one of those years wasn’t 34 games when we had the Mickey Mouse Cup etc.
vasquez was had fairly good availability last season.
if you can rotate him with osorio during fixture congestion can probably limit injuries for both
According to the MLS website....
2022 - TFC played 34 regular season games, Oso appeared in 23. 11 games missed
2021 - TFC 34 games, Oso in 24, 10 games missed.
2020 - TFC 23 games (including the MLS is Back tourney round robin games), Oso in 17 games. 6 games missed
2019 - TFC 34 games, Oso in 24 (plus one game on the bench - I had counted this above). 9 games not in the lineup, 10 games not played.
2018 - TFC 34 games, Oso in 30, 4 games missed
Exactly. The data shows Oso missing 25-30% of matches over the past 4 years, since 2019. This is a key metric to consider, and it doesn’t generally get better over 30.
This is why you have folks asking the question of whether we want our midfield options to include all 3 of Bradley VV and Oso. It’s a valid concern for a max tam deal. Insanity for DP etc. We absolutely cannot have big money tied up in the infirmary, regardless the name on the back of the shirt.
Lol not me getting actually excited for this.
Btw I'm worried about the Reynolds thing. Kid has never played more than 20 games in his 4 year career. Buckets of potential, but maybe risky to rely on him without having another fullback with the talent to actually start.
Insigne's age contextualizes all of our moves in my opinion. He's 31, so it's really a win now situation.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
The captain thing is vastly overrated. Oso is and would be a core part of veteran leadership.
Well, so much for a flurry of big news today. I hate being a pessimist but it’s hard to have faith in a Manning led FO. I don’t think the trauma response from the Curtis years will wane until there some concrete proof of a complete team in the making.
I don’t think it's Manning that is the problem, if there is a problem (big if, we don’t know yet). BB is in charge now.
If we have a problem, I would guess it's because we have all the ingredients for certain kinds of predictable problems: the whole MB/BB thing (it's just unhealthy), the fear that Insigne and his entourage will be calling all shots (no getting around this, guys making 50% more than anyone in their league become part of management of their teams in all sports…)
I doubt we'd get any signing news on a world cup day. There's breaks between stages now. Any upcoming news will be on the 11th or 12th not today or tomorrow since it's QF days. Then not on the SF days of 13 or 14 etc.
Monday or Thursday....
