So we still have space for a DP striker with two of the three DPs off the books.

This would be the most ideal... Best 11:
#1 Insgine (DP)
#2 RW (DP)
#3 Pozuelo(DP)
#4 Salcedo
#5 Striker - Jiminez/Giovinco (1 only)
#6 Osorio
#7 defensive midfielder
#8 Mavinga
#9 Left back
#10 Auro Jr.
#11 Westberg
Bench: Bradley, O'Niel, Priso, Akinola, Peruzza, Shaff, McNaughton, Achara etc.
I'm ok with Bradley and Shaff being regulars in squad rotation but they shouldn't be in our best 11 imo.
I was not inferring releasing anyone. I was referring more to the fact that someone will have to give up playing time for him. Seba is historically quiet coming off the bench (I will concede that wonder goal vs NYRB in 2015) so by default he would need to start in order to get into the game. By that margin, who do we sit? That was the question I was asking, or at least attempting to
Wow. I never thought we'd be able to unload his contract. This offseason has been incredible.
A guy goes to bed early and misses some big news. Jozy's buyout makes sense to be announced tonight as part of a Friday news dump.
It’s potentially a low-risk, high reward move. Worst case these signings won’t hamstring the Revs anymore than Gallardo and Zavs did TFC. Which is to say, if could be a thorn in their side if they don’t create the necessary depth and starters are injured. But if everyone’s healthy it won’t mean much.
Yeah this is it.
I mean Jimenez is going to cost us what, $3-4M all in? I like that move, same as most here, but there is risk in that, who among us had ever heard of Jesus Jimenez a month ago, or really knows what to make of his career?
If Jozy costs say, $2M all in ( I am making all these numbers up, just trying to illustrate a thought process)… and you are Bruce Arena and you know Jozy incredibly well, and you get somewhat comfortable on the medical stuff…
At the right price and with the expectation of being a super sub that could be a really astute signing for the revs. I'm just happy it's all over with, mostly, and hope he's received well here on his return
Hmmm... back to natural grass for Jozy?
Eventually?

A little interesting exchange between Cristian Tello and Carlos Salcedo on Instagram. Might of been lost in translation, but Carlos said he awaits Cristian soon.
Was watching some Insigne highlights like we all should, and one of his highlights with the National team felt almost literally like that NDL screamer that took us to the 2019 WC - standing defenders and a curling shot that beats the GK. That's against a Belgian backline.
Imagine this against MLS defenders.
I like the idea of it... but another left-sider... but has played right-winger... but then Insigne and JJ would be competing for their jobs.:)
All in good fun, why not? If The Price Is Right. But I suspect too expensive. Although don't we have historical connects with Real Betis? And his contract is up?
An interesting candidate since, in reality, I prefer roster construction with depth versatility-redundancy options.
Tello makes sense if they plan on moving Insigne inside and playing a role like Giovinco used to. Could of just been banter between two friends, but someone who uses social media like Salcedo has to know he'll be stirring the pot talking like that to another prominent player who is about to come available.
I remember speculating/hoping we were in for Tello when we got Piatti. From seeing the exchange though it really could just be a friendly invite.
I thought I read TFC was returning to TO from LA and then heading out again to Austin so...
According too the interweb JJ flew to TO a few days ago so likely he will be joining the team in/to Austin.
Osorio as well, maybe a few extra days of RR given the travel and his great CMNT performance.
Lawrence... I just don't know... but I got a bad feeling...
ESPN confirms TFC is using the buyout on Jozy. He'll then join as a TAM player for NER. Good job on getting paid Jozy.
ESPN also says that TFC will only pay the salary that NER is not paying him this season. So assuming a salary of $3.6M, if NER pays him $1M this season we only pay $2.6M. Nice little savings for TFC.

I liked Lawrence. It's not obvious why we would move on from him. I don’t remember him getting exposed the , say, Gonzalez did
If we are moving him, shouldn’t he bring a pretty interesting TAM package (ie more than Delgado) ?
I think we need a GOOD striker. Someone that buries chances when they get them inside the box, not someone with a less than stellar finishing rate. Unless we fix that and I'm still not convinced that recovering Akinola/Achara would do that, then we won't see maximum value out of Insigne. As anyone who's played out on the wing at any level will tell you, human nature dictates that if you keep launching decent crosses into the box and they don't end up in the net ... you take matters into your own hands and start cutting in yourself. Although Insigne is more than capable of doing that, as a team we'd score many more goals if we have someone on the end of those crosses who just lives for putting the ball in the old onion bag ...
I know he wanted to come back to MLS because of family issues in Jamaica. If I remember correctly, his brother ended up having a fatal car collision. That put a lot of strain on Kemar as I think he was supporting his family quite a bit now. Maybe he's found it too hard to support them being based in Toronto and wants to move a little closer to home. Long flights, border restrictions, etc.
EDIT: Here's an article about how his brother was in an accident and lost his leg: https://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/...rlecht-absence
And then a month later his brother ended up passing away: https://www.archyworldys.com/devasta...areer-on-hold/
Roster Evaluation (4-3-3 Assumed)
Tier 1 - Sorted
Strikers: JJ and Akinola are excellent. Perruzza has potential.
Tier 2 - Almost
Wingers: Shaff is the only winger currently okay to start. Insigne only comes in the summer. We need another quality winger.
Centreback: Salcedo could be excellent. Mavinga has major question marks. O’Neil serviceable, while MacNaughton will be Zavaleta quality.
Midfield: Poz and Oso will carry this midfield. Bradley will hamper it. I hope Priso can play Bradley off the pitch this year. Not enough quality depth without Delgado.
Tier 3 - No Absolutely Not
Fullback: Auro can start, I guess? No quality fullbacks after Auro (assuming Kemar leaving). Major problem area.
Keeper: Atrocious after last year. Bono obviously, Westberg surprisingly.
Just further confirmation.

Interesting that Lukas Podolski had made his way back to Poland and was Jimenez’ striker partner is Zabzre.
