It hasn't been named the Canada Cup - that's just what we've been calling it.

i think a cup they should consider changing the name is"Trillium Cup" Why not call it a "Trillium Derby" ? Sounds WAY better plus you put enfacis on the individual game rather than a series which would draw way more people...

... and why was the Canada Cup of hockey lame? it was the only tournament in the world that featured all the best prior to the Olympics opening up to pro's and the NHL allowing their players to get involved.
It had its faults but it was sure better than the current World Championships in Halifax/Quebec ... and that tournament is pretty damned good!
