Good article by Jack highlighting the need for tactical flexibility. I really hope Nelson can be that kind of manager, but so far he's been pretty rigid in his system.

Nelson's true colours as manager will shine through in the next 3 games. If he is stubborn and not flexible with the line up formation and substitutions this will be his down fall. The alarm bells should be ringing when he said time of possession doesn't really matter because it does in the long run.
we need to find a stable away line-up.
I think this will be one of the biggest problems for the TFC staff to solve.
You can't play a cookie cutter 4-4-2 all the time.
There will be games where we have to adapt to contain our opponents. We are acting like we can boss everyone around and that is simply naive.
I am a little afraid TFC (Nelsen) may suffer from the same issues that are keeping Chelsea back at present. The manager is being forced to play certain players and in our case that is dictating our system of play. I think it is a fact that dominating the mid-field can help a team win despite having less talent overall. We must look to always compete evenly in the middle so that our talented players can get opportunities to tip the balance.
There are different horses for different courses even at this level.

Our team is too talented to rely solely on a counter attacking strategy. In the first few games, it makes sense while our players become familiar with each other, but in the long run, it will absolutely backfire if we continue to willingly concede possession on a regular basis.
disagree...during the pregame of the tfc game on tsn, he was praising the decision to have 2 "right backs" on the wing because as he said...RSL liked to/do the bulk of their attack down the left...funny enough the chunk of the attack and the best attacks came through the middle...funny how he takes a bit of a 180 from his pregame stanceQuote:
