It is going to be fun to watch how Shaqiri does compared to Insigne

I think Insigne is the better talent but was surprised that their 2021/2022 stats were similar if you factor out PK goals. Insigne is coming into a better situation but I wonder if Shaqiri having played in a number of different leagues adjusts quicker than Lorenzo who only played in Italy.
I have a feeling Swiss night might be Albanian night
I think Shaqiri on $5-7M looks like very good value compared to Insigne. (Not that it matters particularly to us of course.)
I think it would be cool to have a couple playoff battles with Chicago.

Zavs turns 30 this year. Probably has maybe 3-4 years left max. Going to USL would probably be a death blow to his career. Best for him to take an $80,000 MLS minimum and sit on the bench, so he can maximize his earnings rather than a USL $2-3000/month deal and play. If he was 23-25 USL might be a good idea, but at this stage, just take the money.
I would also think so and agree.
But these days... it's now or never to help his nephew. At this moment, he has the capital to withstand the optics; water of his back.
Maybe a rabbit out of a hat gamble for Vanney despite the nepotism.
Maybe with Zav's glimpse of the future, his professional life, the scare of the abyss-USL... he works hard to do some sort of Josh Williams rebound and resurrection.
2022 is the year when we see if Vanney can put together a decent team without Bez. 2nd year is always the best test of a manager's capability.
Zavs had one good year - 2016.
He's got one shot - Vanney would be stupid to keep him past this season without signs of improvement.
I always felt that Zavaleta could be a decent backup in the right environment (but would need to be on a reasonable salary as well of course). Issue is, Vanney wasn't able to turn him around at TFC, so I don't see why it should go better at the Galaxy -- plus the bad optics. Maybe with a strong line leader (like Drew Moor was) and a vocal keeper... But I don't know if they have those in LA.
I had listened to those who said that cries of nepotism were unfair, that Zavaleta was here on his merits, he was a key member of the 2017 squad, etc.
Now it looks pretty obvious that nepotism is in play (and in retrospect probably was then as well). There's no way that the Galaxy needs Zavaleta specifically, he doesn't bring anything unique to the table.
Well, Zavs was ridiculous enough as it was on that inflated TFC salary. But if it there was ever any doubt, let’s not forget we also fielded another Vanney relative (name escapes me) and was wow here near MLS level.
I just don't know sometimes. Better them than us, is all I can say.

Does somebody owe someone something? Why is this guy getting another contract?
Imagine not registering a shot on target in two years and getting a contract. Haha.
Hey sign me up, I'm sure I could do better.
It surprised me to learn he is 31. He has been around MLS so long, I thought he was older than that.
