If TFC loses, I assume a managerial change will be imminent with the season rendered meaningless before the end of May.
However, if TFC manages a scoreless draw or a victory tonight, the dynamics change entirely.
As we all know, MLSE is purely a profit driven corporation, and the benefits of qualifying for the CCL are more lucrative than qualifying for the MLS Playoffs, with more guaranteed extra matches at BMO Field. In that sense, Winter likely has the support of the MLSE Board Of Governors based on TFC's recent astonishing run in the CCL and the additional revenue those extra matches at BMO Field/Rogers Centre generated.
If TFC advances to the CCL again, Winter could very well gain job security for the rest of the season, regardless of TFC's record of futility in league play.
