Nice to hear those words from Brockie.

Morning D.
Brockie said the same thing last night. Was obvious that he didn't want to leave and really liked it here.

Bit of an administrative question... I notice that a lot of the links you put up are to newsnow.co.uk, which then redirect to mlssoccer.com, including 2 today. Just wondering the reasoning behind it, if there is any?

A useful source for getting out all the related articles quickly. Something I'd not begrudge a guy tasked with getting the news out early in the morning.
Plus, they've got a 5 hour jump on us over there.

This is damaging quote and an obvious warning sign.
Quote:
What’s more, we are seeing a team now under Kevin Payne’s direction make some of the same mistakes made back when D.C. United was under Kevin Payne’s direction. That is, every player that comes in gets over-sold. Yes, that makes management look good in the short-term, trumpeting the splashy new signing and all.
But the results eventually speak for themselves, and United’s results in the last eight years were frequently awful, a lot down to poor player signings, the drag of inflated expectations and poor choices for manager.
Good luck to Urruti, but the club has already put him in something of a bind, big expectations being what they are and all.
I wonder if he has his own scouting agency that he's using to scout players. He might be a double-dipper. His old team is doing shit and now his future old team is doing shit.

Toronto FC Q&A with Maxi Urruti
Notable Q&A:
Quote:
11. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
“I would be able to hit the ball with both feet.”
(I'm sure he meant "hit the ball better with both feet")

I'm shocked at how few professional soccer players will, at all costs, avoid playing a ball on their weaker foot. TFC guys: Dunfield, Rey, Convey just to name a few.
It's ridiculous to see a guy chase a ball heading towards the sideline and watching him try and wrap the outside of his strong foot around the ball to try and keep it in..almost always in vain.
I plan on coaching in the very near future and if I see that from one of my players they're getting told the first time, and taken out of the game if I see it again. lol

Get them to kick an old ball against the wall without shoes on. That's what did it for me.

Payne has a significantly larger budget to work with in Toronto, so the situations aren't necessarily analogous. Laba has been every bit as good as advertised.

After the last home match, when he came to the corner to thank/applaud the supporter's, I thought he looked genuinely sad.

Yeah it's really hard on him but he also knows there's not much he can do. Payne tried to keep him but Wellington was asking for too much.

Ex-Red Silva scores 3 times in 4 games.....LOL! And we gave him away for NOTHING!!! Typical....

Does anyone have a religious leader in their rolo-dex?
regardless of religion/denomination, etc...
I'm pretty serious about performing some exorcisms.
Wiccan, Voodoo, Christian, Judaism, Islam, Pagan, etc...etc...
if you can perform an exorcism, i want to talk to you.

Overworked players and reckless play gets you injured. He looks like he's labouring alot on the field. Kinda like that old German.....worn down by loyalty to his teammates.

I've never looked at it from his perspective but here is some interesting info about Phoenix. Some stuff very similar and some different but looking at it I can honestly see why he'd like to come back.
Wellington Phoenix is located in Wellington, New Zealand, the smaller populated country that plays in a Larger border country's league.
The challenges of the relatively small league continue to be interest vs the more populated sports available.
Away games involve flight to another country with sometimes significant distance (Perth to Wellington for instance ~5200kms!!!)
Phoenix play in a 32k multipurpose stadium but average attendance High 11,683 in Year 1 vs Low 3898 last year would be eeeeempty.
They were founded in 2007 and were the local darling but bad results have significantly diminished attendance numbers.
Dead last in their league...
I think coming to TFC and seeing the facilities and the city in a short time could easily sway his decision to want to stay. It's mostly familiar in terms of travel and struggles, but if you enjoy living in a big live safe city then Toronto has it's draw. TFC does come across as a big pond to smaller fish with the training facilities and crowds we get. I have been to A-League games and the support is extremely similar to ours here just on a slightly lesser scale.
Let him experience our "lesser" desirable weather conditions and then see what his decision is :) Either case I hope we see him back here again if he continues to improve his strike rate.

Thanks guys, I figured it was something like that. And, to Tobor's point... just so I don't come across as ungrateful for your ongoing work, I absolutely do not begrudge you for this in any way - quite the contrary in that your efforts are tremendously appreciated.
