We're still figuring it out, but my oldest listed relative, Robert Loome, was born there in 1792. He was likely (based on a name he gave one of his son's) the bastard son of John Lombe, then Sheriff of Norwich, and the wife of Dr. John Beevor, a noted local physician.
(They had another bastard child and Lombe's estate later passed to him as there were no other heirs. But that recognition was grudging, and I suspect my great-grandfather seven times removed wasn't as lucky. as he was their second bastard. He just inherited a wonky spelling and multi-generational penchant for manual labor).
Anyway, if that's true, I'm probably related to the Middletons. Brrr. Terrible things can happen if you look back far enough...
