clever
i see what you did there. gargan.... oh classic

I don't get the "ease in to MLS" for Eckersley...
I can see a coach easing a player back from injury - as game action is far different from training and you don't want to re-injure them - but for a young man, who is match fit, not playing him "eases him out" in my opinion...
GET IN THE GAME... That's how you learn and adjust to a new style...
We're obviously not playing to win right now - we're "building", so let Eckersley build his MLS experience...
Never understood sitting healthy players as a positive move - not playing will have a negative impact on their development IMO...
Experience is the best teacher...
Carts...
-
Not only that, how is playing only against a crappy expansion NASL side 'easing' him in?

Can't read the TFC piece, but the Sun piece hints that he is/was not match fit...

Following TFC’s 1-0 win, the Dutchman hinted that the Englishman is still chasing full match fitness and struggled to close Wednesday night’s game.

Eckersley had not been playing regularly for an extensive period of time prior to his arrival in Toronto. It is sensible to ease him into a starting role with club. I have no doubt that Winter will begin to utilize him regularly as the starting RB against MLS opposition now that he's had a few games under his belt.

Not defending Dan Gargan for ball watching and being too far to the centre on the first goal, the second goal saw Adrian Cann jogging alongside the goal scorer, not even attempting to run diagonal to steer the player away. So there are still problems in defence.
I for one hope RE as well as Plata gets a start on Saturday.

YIKES... He made 16-starts for Burnley this season & he's not match fit...
If he's not match fit with that, maybe that's why he's been sent to North America from England...
A few games in the southern states at 90-degrees and it'll whip him into shape!... :D

According to Eckersley...
Quote:
“Paul Mariner kept track of me this season. The reason I made the decision (to travel) was that I missed a lot of football. My agent contacted Paul and he said ‘bring him over immediately’ and I came.”

Believe EVERYTHING you read... :)
He went from Manchester United product, to Burnley, to Toronto FC...
I really hope he stays as he's a great prospect, and has shown his skill on the field - but there are reasons guys fall from top clubs to us...
I'm "hoping", read "hoping", its nothing more than just some time to mature and fit into becoming a professional athlete...
Also, I'm hoping he loves Toronto - so if he's given an offer to return to Europe at a lower league - he stays...
Carts...
-
Yeah - I don't think he's played at burnley at all in the last couple of years and all I could see stat-wise is that he'd made about 15 appearance (on loan) since November. No idea how many of those were starts, but even that is about half of all available games...

Mariner. If Mariner went back to the Revs, he would have ended up there (if they would have him).

He was looking for playing time...
So, find the weakest roster out there and call them - that way you have the best chance at playing a lot...
So, he called us... le sigh... :(

And he's looked like the best player we've ever had at the Right Back position in five years.

The fieldturf is the reason that Eckersley didnt play on Saturday, or I'm the King of Spain.
I just cant see a pro-player on loan from burnley, playing two road games in five days on fieldturf and nobody having a problem with that.
-
^^Or maybe a U.S. visa issue?
-
^lol, guys only good for home games the rest of the way.

Didn't seem to make a lick of difference in Edmonton where he played on Field Turf...
Commonwealth no longer has grass. They took it out this year.
