Does anyone remember Amadou Sanyang or Ebrima Bojang from the U20s?

Edit: I don't think they were on that Gambia team.

Do these guys have a realistic shot at sticking around?

Apparently LA trialled them in August before they were eligible for contract.

We have players from one of the worst U-20 teams in tournament history (statistically). Other countries youths couldn't hurt, and they could potentially be around for a few seasons.

i doubt these guys were part of the u-20 team. they are 16 and 17 right now which means 2 years ago at the tournament they were 14 and 15 playing for the u-20 team? doesn't really make sense. i think they would be tough to crack the line up even at this (16 & 17)age. but, we are not a third world country either and if one of these guys is a "special" player, some countries make room for them so you never know...but the gambian team that was here a few years ago was good. they were a little rough around the edges but good.

Funny how, with the exception to Barrett, only new guys to the team have stats for assists and goals. Maybe just the way the formations/playing time was....or maybe not?

Do you think the trialists came back to Toronto? I probably think they are only brought in for game action.

This week is the week I think we'll see the CB signing, now that they are back in Toronto.

Would be better if our Goal Differential was a bit better.

4 goals for TFC and 5 goals against.

Im hoping for Gregory Richardson, Darron Kenton and Michael McGlinchey to stick with the team.

Dont ask me why ... that's just who I feel would fit in the best based on what Ive read and heard.

With 3 spots open (barring anyone else leaving - My front runners are Marco "Red" Velez and Brian Edwards), I figure JC wants 2 defenders and one wing player.

That puts Kenton and McGlinchey as the front runners.

Obviously it's just preseason, but we've conceded a goal in every game so far.

Has Velez played all the games? hahahaha!!! I am just so anti-Velez.

So does anyone else think Velez and Edwards are on the hot seat? If you were JC, would you cut them or take a chance into the season? Do we need to carry 3 GK?

Carrying 3 goalies in MLS doesn't make too much sense.

Marco Velez is a bit of a lost cause tbh.

I think Edwards is definitely in the hot seat, i dont think Velez is yet, its definitely his year to prove his worth and could be cut if he doesnt step up. Edwards is on his way out, its just a matter of where for what

I'm positive that Edwards and Frei are the two fighting it out for the second keeper spot. Don't really know what to say about Velez just yet. 2 goals and an assist for Barrett is great news.

i think valez will be around for the year as well. i think one of our goalies will be gone though.

I am gonna get a lot of backlash about this, but just putting it out there - What about Sutton being the odd guy out?

Cons for letting him go:

1. Saved us on many times last year
2. Canadian - So no roster restriction
3. Fan backlash
4. Players may not be happy

Pros for letting him go:

1. Saves over $100K in cap space
2. We have 2 capable young GKs

the thing with Sutton is he has no surprises for us. We know what he can do, and that's comforting, even if he has faults. The two kids are still relatively unknown. Maybe they just need a shot and they'll kick Sutton's butt. But it seems pretty risky to turn over the reigns to two very inexperienced keepers. I'd prefer to ease them in. also, if frei plays too much he loses his GA status and then the savings are lost.

we need a veteran keeper. sutts will stay.

Frei is looking SPECTACULAR!
Because we're starting the season on the road I'd like to see us open up with him in net to see what he can do.

Interesting to look at minutes played. Brennan with the most (no surprise) but the second most minutes? Cronin. Now, as I see it, preseason is about two things:

1) Trialing new players (Cronin is already signed, no need)

2) Allowing your players to gel

Does the number of minutes Cronin is getting indicate Carver might be looking at him for a starting spot? He's obviously impressed anyway.

It also looks like Barrett might have the #1 striker spot, with Vitti and Dichio fighting for #2 (though I think Vitti has the edge here, might we see Dichio relegated to the bench?)

Just of note:

1) I didn't include the goals TFC keepers (Edwards and Frei) allowed when they each played a half for FAU (Edwards 1 and Frei 2)

2) Some of the game records have been pretty sparse on specific info regarding outfield players minutes played. I just dropped the "?" and estimated as best I could, so they should be close to total minutes played

MLS has said before that players graduate from GA if they play too much.
So if they used Frei as the starting keeper this year, you can be pretty certain that next season his salary will be counted against the cap.

Yeah, this is true. If they spend more than half the season -- or something like that -- on the non-dev roster, they count for a senior salary the following year. Or something like that.

When was he challenged with anything difficult? There was one he had to get down for in the first game against the university team (or the game right after that against Hacken, not sure which) but other than that he hasn't really been tested.

In fact, until the DC game, the team hadn't faced much actual offensive opposition. Let's face it, Charleston was fielding trialists and its full-time squad was fucking woeful.

I know you both believe it but I've never seen anything official or otherwise. I could be convinced your right but not when your using terms like "or something like that" and "MLS has said before". I can't find anything to prove it either way.

aaahhhh i'm not so sure about that...You can't just dismiss what Frei has done so far, I mean the same could be said about Sutton so far(that he hasn't be tested all that much) I mean in the 210mins that Sutton was in, he was facing other teams in pre-season who were fielding trialists also...

Personally i've thought that Sutton is on the decline of his career and that decline has been speeding up since his major concussions...He just isn't the same...Something is ??Missing?? when you watch him play...

Are these stats up to date if so, why haven't we seen any of Gomez? How can people deny that Barrett will be our leading scorer? and how come Frei isn't the starter?
