Looks like it's going to turn out nicely. I wish we had a ground like that with a roof and real grass.

Awesome stadium ... hopefully this will cause envy across the league and force other teams to build similar stadiums.

I hate the Red Bulls but every time a real stadium is built that replaces stadiums with football lines in view is a big plus for the league and for my experience watching the games on tv. So bring it!

They'll never get the cranes out. They're too big. How are you supposed to play soccer around great big cranes?

I wonder if they'll have a specific section for away supporters and will provide a certain allocation per game.

New York is hoping they can form their new defensive line. It's their only shot in 2010.

Stadium looks great, but what a shit area to be building it in. I mean, that beautiful grey river and rusted barn outside of the stadium add to the ambiance, but I guess land is at a premium in New York, so can't really do much about it. either way they have helped the MLS progress further by doing this.

no that would be a bad idea. Thats one of the very few times they will fill it up with their own fans.

I think it's a great location. It's right next to the Harrison PATH station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrison_(PATH_station)) - which makes it only 20-minutes (4 subway stops) to the World Trade Centre station in Manhattan where you can easily change to the A,C,E and 2,3 subways (and the 1, 4, 5, J, M, R, W and Z subways if they ever finish the Fulton Street Transit Center - which seems unlikely given the shape it looked like last time I was there ...)

I have no idea how your supposed to get to the current stadium at Meadowlands. Some kind of bus transit through the Lincoln Tunnel I'd think ... but how long would that take, the traffic through the tunnel is horrendous at the best of time.

It should be us or DC that they play against. Would be nice to bring 1000 people down for such a nice stadium.

Will Philadelphia be playing when the stadium opens? That rivalry will get the league a lot more exposure in the US media.

Looks like the same sort of area Toyota Park is situated in... industrial wasteland.. as noted though transit links are easy. If only we could get something like this some day..

remember also that it looks terrible pretty much everywhere right now with the dirty melted snow and greyness. I bet it will look awesome when the surrounding area is finished as planned and the greenery has grown in the spring/summer.

Yeah but if we got an arena like that, we either have to shift location or the city will still own it because no way will they ever sell of part of the exhibition grounds. i think our best bet is to let TFC grow and grow so that in time we get extended seating, a roof, grass and a grass training facility. at that stage we'll be in a kick ass position, and we'll have the history fo the ground to look back on and we can all still loive the same nuts and bolts we have always loved and rocked. Once TFC is big enough there will be no more discussion about other sides moving in. I can;t wait to take my kids to the future BMO Field and tell them how it used ot look with no roof, no north stand and only sinlge tier south and east stands!! :D:D:D:D

I'm sorry but I think the east stand should stay single tiered for as long as possible.

Red Bull stadium is sick and will make the league look better on TV when playing there.

BMO field is pretty shit right now, i say mainly just because its to open and with no roofs or anythin it really effects the atmosphere, it could be twice as loud of the stadium wasn't open like that. But it can easily be expanded and make it look more like a traditional English stadium with 4 seperate stands and a roof on each. I hope once they see Red Bull stadium Toronto will realize they really gotta fix BMO field up.

i dont really get the fuck the shitebulls stadium comments...... i mean when you have redbull as your sponsor anything can happen, i mean the old company doin this project was taken over by redbull just because they didnt like the way it was being done LOL

this stadium will be 1000x better than the NSS maybe BMO should fork up some real cash or we shud look for another sponsor.... when is the contract up ...... anyone?

also, i really dont see anything happening to the NSS i mean noone in real power here gives a shit about soccer , but HOPEFULLY with the pan am games comming something mite happen !!!

Sweet stadium as much as we hate RBNY.

I really wish TFC does something about their stadium too. As much as I love it, the atmosphere, location and everything, it doesn't look very intimidating :)

I think anyone will be a bit skeptical to throw more money at BMO with the constant threat of the argos possibly moving in and the fact that we cant put grass in. Im sure the more freedom they get the more likely they are going to throw more money into it

Now that's a proper football stadium for MLS. Most stadiums in this league are awful and lead to its reputation as semi-professional.

bleh, i don't like aerial views of celtic park.... looks unfinished. not like a bmo "room for expansion" unfinished. but like they forgot a couple of decks on the small stand.

I think anyone will be a bit skeptical to throw more money at BMO with the constant threat of the argos possibly moving in and the fact that we cant put grass in.Expanding the south stands, and building north stands, would end any threat of the Argos moving in without spending millions just to rip out the stands.

(and if the reports about most CFL fans being in their 40s and 50s are true, then it's unlikely that they would be able to stomach the change from their comfortable climate-controlled Skydome to outdoors; I remember Argos games in late October in the old Exhibition stadium - it was hell, especially with those metal benches for seating ... and it's not like everyone was standing up and jumping up and down ... you sit there for 3-hours freezing, and wishing you were somewhere else ... though perhaps I give away my own age with this post ... :)
