Toronto FC trade Tyrone Marshall to Seattle(this is so yesterday news )
By John F. Molinaro

Toronto FC's defence will have a decidedly different look in the 2009 Major League Soccer season after the Canadian club traded veteran central defender Tyrone Marshall to the expansion Seattle Sounders FC for allocation money.
The two teams completed the deal on Tuesday. Financial details were not disclosed.
"Tyrone is a veteran of this league and we wish him all the best," said Toronto general manager Mo Johnston.

Fire upend Toronto FC in Florida exhibition
Draft picks Sam Cronin and Kyle Hall see initial MLS action

Toronto FC dropped a 1-0 decision to the Chicago Fire in a Major League Soccer pre-season game Tuesday in Bradenton, Fla.
Midfielder Mike Banner scored the only goal of the game for Chicago, beating Toronto goalkeeper Greg Sutton with a free kick in the 41st minute.
Toronto coach John Carver used a 4-4-2 formation, with Canadian forward Dwayne De Rosario, the club's major off-season acquisition, playing up front alongside Chad Barrett.

Vitti a vital addition for Toronto FC
by Ben Rycroft (http://www.metronews.ca/edmonton/columnist/179696)

If you had told any Toronto FC fan last season that the club was going to have trouble keeping all its strikers happy in 2009, they would have laughed in your face — or dumped a beer on your head. Either would have been a proper reaction to such lunacy.

2008 was the year that Jeff Cunningham was run out of town, Danny Dichio (TFC’s leading scorer) watched much of the season sidelined with a concussion and a stadium’s hopes fell to the slender shoulders of 17-year-old Fuad (I’m no longer Abdus) Ibrahim.

I do not trust the Canadian media when it comes to footy, but if it is true that Carver played De Ro as an out and out striker, I am not too crazy about that move. He needs to play behind the stikers and not up against the CB, to allow his space to use his creativity and speed.

Maybe he is just trying shit out. Get a feel for how he plays. I doubt he will use him as a striker with a healthy group of options on the bench.

That's what I was going to say. Cute enough girl, but I do not get the tatooing shit. Looks so trailer trash. Also, why does the sunshine girl have a black tshrit on for part of her shoot? Isn't that counter-intuitive to whatthe SSG is all about?

You and I have the same taste. I don't think she's overly skinny at all. Perfect size :)

now, if she was a little bigger "up top" she'd be even better! ;)

Agreed. Perhaps Carver can say now he tried him up top and can give it to an all out striker.

Now for some real news:

“Jackie Chan” Richardson impresses in Toronto FC’s win

By Rawle Toney
Guyana’s ace striker Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson was impressive playing his first game for Toronto FC who claimed a 2-1 win over the USA U-20 side Sunday last in Bradenton, Florida.
The Pele and Joe Public striker, who is on a week-long try out with the Canadian Major League Soccer (MLS) side, came on as a substitute and, according to reports reaching Stabroek Sport, was “remarkable” with his performance on the pitch.
He made a few good runs at goal but was not successful in finding the back of the net, coming close on a few occasions.

Vitti speaks

Toronto FC's new striker Pablo Vitti trained with the team for the first time on Wednesday and spoke exclusively to TorontoFC.ca about his delight at joining the Reds. "I already know the city and I see it as a great opportunity. I am very happy that this worked out," said Vitti.

Yeah, I was wondering who exactly was quoted in this article. It would be neat for him to become the first Guyanese player in MLS; it would gain us quite a few supporters and further international recognition. TFC also had the first Puerto Rican in MLS and a lot of Honduras follow/keep tabs on TFC because Guevara is here. If the aim is for TFC to become a continental power, then this can't hurt. Of course, the player has to be good enough above all.

C'mon Toronto. If TFC are in it this would be remarkable.

other top MLS clubs Columbus Crew and San Jose Earthquake

Really? San Jose is considered a top MLS club? I mean, I get the fact they have won the cup before (before being disbanded) but they came in last in 2008. If San Jose is considered a "Top MLS Club" who isn't?

Didn't you hear?

They are renaming the league "Top MLS".

It just beat out "Mickey Mouse League".
