Coach Carver confident addition of De Rosario big step in helping club end post-season futility
Daniel Girard
Now signed to a long-term deal, Dwayne De Rosario is getting reacquainted with his hometown and even "embracing" the cold.
But don't think he's settling down.
"It's not a place to get comfortable, because I've got a huge job ahead of myself and we've got a huge job ahead of us in terms of getting this team to where we want to be," De Rosario said yesterday as Toronto FC opened training camp for its third season at BMO Field.

Carver vows to tone it down
By RYAN JOHNSTON
TORONTO -- Freshly shorn and shaved for media day at BMO Field, Toronto FC head coach John Carver is also ready to shed the wildcard reputation he earned in year one of his tenure with the team.
"You won't get an interesting press conference from me after the game anymore," Carver half-joked on Monday. "If we talk about football, then sure, but you're not going to get the meaty quote out of me about officials. I have had enough."

TORONTO -- Danny Dichio is fine with giving up his wisdom to the new faces in the dressing room. But the Toronto FC talisman is not about to give up his playing time, too.
"I expect to be in contention. I expect to be pushing for a place and I don't think J.C. would want it any other way," Dichio said of the expectations he will face in what will likely be his final year as a player. "I haven't come here to sit on the bench or sit in the stands and watch games because I would have retired if that was the case."

New sense of optimism
Gerry Dobson
There was something in the air Monday. I don't care what Wiarton Willy said; the sky was blue, the sun was shining at a different angle to reflect the lengthening days, and the boys in red have gathered once more.
Spring is here as far as I'm concerned.
Media day was a zoo ... only in Toronto. League officials shake their heads in frustration when they see turnouts like this in comparison to what happens south of the border. I've seen it myself.

Reds start camp with high expectations
Offseason acquisitions give TFC reasons for optimism
TORONTO -- Like the protective bubble erected over BMO Field in the winter, there are no signs that the bubble of enthusiasm felt amongst Toronto FC's players and coaches for the upcoming season is anywhere close to bursting. "I'm really excited," said team captain Jim Brennan. "I think there's going to be big things this season. The guys are all here, everybody's buzzing, the coaches are buzzing. Good things are coming for Toronto FC."
