Toshack excited by new role
Reds new goalkeeper coach returns to Canada

Toronto FC Media Relations

Toronto FC's new goalkeeping coach Mike Toshack is delighted to have the opportunity of working for Canada's first MLS team. The Ontario native returns to his homeland to join the Reds after three years working with the Houston Dynamo. "It's a fantastic move for me," said Toshack. "Being a Canadian and seeing the way the club is going, it's something that I really want to be a part of. ...

Attention to detail
Gerry Dobson

When you look at the day-to-day calendar covering most of one entire wall in John Carver's expansive office, it hits home how much preparation goes into the job. It’s all laid out from Feb. 2nd when camp opens in Toronto right through the season opener in Kansas City in March.

Not a single detail is overlooked. The only thing missing is the names of all the players.

Page 3 is a hot indian chick today - nice.

Also an article floating around with Lalas opening up his big chops and saying that the Galaxy should be worried that Beckham won't come back.

I was of the thinking that Beckham may not come back - but reports in Italy say that Milan will make a bid to bring him back for good in November (i.e. he would play this season in MLS).

But now that Lalas is saying that Beckham is leaving, I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed for 5 years.

Moral of the story - Lalas is a donkey.

Why is is that no matter how good looking the sunshine girl is, the Toronto Sun still manages to make her look like a supporting actress in a 1970's porno?

Combine flawed but still vital
by Ridge Mahoney, Friday, Jan 9, 2009 8:47 AM ET

If so many MLS coaches spend so much of their time scouting college players, why do they all show up at the MLS Combine, which begins Saturday in Fort Lauderdale? Well, every year, a Chris Rolfe (University of Dayton) or Geoff Cameron (Rhode Island) is on display and turns out to be pretty good.

Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Julian De Guzman has become a victim of his own success. Last season's player of the year may have priced himself out of the cash-strapped Primera Liga club's budget-range and with no new contract on the table might well be heading to a new club.

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced Thursday that the Montreal soccer club will play its quarterfinal game of the CONCACAF Champions League at Olympic Stadium. For the first time in Quebec soccer history, an international game will be played in Montreal during the winter. This historic game against the Mexican club Santos Laguna will be played Wednesday, February 25, at 8 pm. "We are thrilled with the positive outcome, since Olympic Stadium was the only viable option for this game to be played in Montreal," said Executive Vice President of the Montreal Impact Richard Legendre. "I wish to thank the Régie des installations olympiques (RIO), Montréal's fire department and the Régie du bâtiment du Québec for their excellent collaboration regarding this matter."
A new opening protocol of the main room at Olympic Stadium will make it possible to present events during the winter season, if three conditions are met: there should be no snow or ice accumulation on the roof at the beginning of the event; there should be no ice accumulation on the front of the Tower or on the suspension cables between the Tower and the roof; and 24 hours prior to the event, there should be no snowfall or freezing rain forecasted during said event.

Gotta love those English words like "forecasted."

There have been rumors in the Canadian media that you were approached by Toronto FC about making a move to Major League Soccer. Was there any truth to those reports?
I have been approached earlier but I don't think it would be a wise move since I'm still young and playing at a level where you won't find many Canadians succeeding at.
As long as I can continue to play at such a high level in one of the top leagues in the world and make good money, I'm going to continue to do my best and that and help put Canada on the map overseas.
Can you see yourself moving to Toronto at some point?
I would love to join TFC at a later stage in my career.

Right after DeRO contract expire in 3-4 years we will get JDG.
