Hip surgery to sideline Ljungberg for 10-12 weeks

If I were a Seattle fan, I'd be getting worried about him...I bet he doesn't reach form until around mid-season.

You have to wonder how the hip will hold up being pounded on the plastic at BMO on the 4th of April, we may have the edge on this match already.

Yes, I believe it is, my point is he will not have been back long from recovery before he will be looking our fixture in the face. Either way the surface cannot help him any as he eases back into the lineup.

Could be good for us on the 4th.

So, signing a DP right away and taking up all that cap space might not be such a good idea...

Remember the procession of events at West Ham. Joins the club, impresses somewhat, gets a longer look, is briefly made captain.....is released by mutual consent.

This isn't a small issue. They've bought seriously damaged goods. I wonder if he had guarantees in that contract, because if he did, Seattle might be without a functioning DP but a big salary cap hit for the first two seasons -- or a negotiated buyout that would be almost as financially damaging.

Smooth.

I think they seriously jumped the gun on getting a DP and settled for a big name who is a better photo op than he is a player at this stage in his career.

I'd like to see him play, I hope he's OK for our home opener.

Freddie Ljungberg is ahead of schedule in his recovery from hip surgery, new club Seattle Sounders said today.
The 31-year-old former Sweden international went under the knife at the renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Colorado on December 19, when the Major League Soccer outfit projected his return to training was 10 to 12 weeks away.
Yet a club spokesman said the former Arsenal and West Ham star was progressing better than expected with his rehabilitation, which he is continuing at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail under the supervision of his surgeon Dr Marc Philippon.
"He's actually ahead of schedule right now,'' the Sounders' Zac Kaplan told PA Sport.

This is good news. I'd like to see Ljungberg at BMO field on opening day. It would just make opening day that much more exciting. That way, when we pound Seattle, they have no excuse that their DP wasn't on the field ;)
