You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if Mo used the DP slot on him regardless of whether the rumour is true or not. Mo said he was looking at one or two targets for DP right after the season ended, Hume was one, and I guess Gomes was the other. Since both of these haven't panned out, I bet Mo just decided to throw DeRo in the DP for a year or two instead of bringing him in and using allocation for his salary. That way he can bring in a Keon Daniels or somebody and pay whatever extra salary we would have to pay them with allocation.
