In front of hundreds of Toronto FC supporters at 'The Kit Party' Thursday night, Danny Dichio announced that he is staying with the team next season after agreeing a 1 year extension to his contract. The 34-year-old striker scored 5 goals in 2008 despite being troubled by injury.

Report: TFC Set to Lose Guevara

It appears Toronto F.C.'s Amado Guevara is headed home. Arguably TFC's best player last year the Honduran midfielder, according to reports in La Tribuna de Honduras, has already agreed to terms with his former team, Montagua. Reports from Guevara's agent however have stated that his client isn't going anywhere.

TFC looks to future
Possible stadium expansion
By Neil Davidson, THE CANADIAN PRESS

TORONTO - With a season ticket waiting list at more than 13,000, Toronto FC is eyeing stadium expansion but not in the immediate future.
"We're thinking about a bunch of different things right now," said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president and CEO for Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment. "We're thinking about a proper training facility . . . we're long-term interested into putting grass in BMO Field."

TORONTO FC LOOKING AT TRAINING FACILITY, STADIUM EXPANSION

TORONTO - With a season ticket waiting list at more than 13,000, Toronto FC is eyeing stadium expansion but not in the immediate future.
"We're thinking about a bunch of different things right now," said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president and CEO for Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment. "We're thinking about a proper training facility . . . we're long-term interested into putting grass in BMO Field."
Switching from FieldTurf to real grass would require the approval of the city, which owns the facility, and the province, which helped fund it. BMO Field is used as a community facility and the Major League Soccer franchise would have to come up with an alternate area for year-round public use if it went to grass.

'Tis the season
Gerry Dobson

Even though it was a biting cold December evening when I walked into the Loose Moose in downtown Toronto, it immediately felt like soccer season. Between 200-300 TFC supporters were there in full voice in anticipation of the launch of the latest Reds jersey. (http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20081204.wspt_tfc04/GSStory/GlobeSportsSoccer/home) The timing for such a venture was not a coincidence of course with Christmas less than three weeks away; although the league does mandate that all teams update their kits every two years.

did anyone honestly expect them to NOT come out with a new jersey? Every team in the world comes out with a new version every year. Im surprised TFC had the same one for 2 yrs in a row.

A new jersey is to be expected imo. I dont see what the big deal is.

i wonder if Guevara's wife had her baby yet. She always sat in my row at BMO and was gettin pretty big by the last game. I figure Amado probably just wants to chill with her and the new kid for a few months.

I think the norm is a home kit change every two years and a possible away kit change every year, two at the most.

It was expected for sure.

This Ansalami guy should take a sales course...he should remember that there are paying customers who support this team. So he better start making commitments versus these political, on the fence comments. He is obviously a wannabe Peddie...

^ Its always been my understand as well about the kit redesigns. I actually think there were a couple clubs in the EPL a few years back that were flirting with the idea of a new kit every year. As far as I know, nothing came of it.

Fan 590 is just repeating the same rumoured crap from those Honduran papers, while Ives is referencing those reports, and then checking with his sources who know better. I trust Ives.
