I think the media is just paraphrasing the comments made during the jersey unveiling.
What I understood from the pre jersey speech was that they are prepared to expand but only when the time is right.
Apparently it will cost 30mil to do it.

They are looking at the 2011 or 2012 season for expanding BMO.
This is straight from my sources who havespoken the inside people that work at city hall.

Hopefully ist's 2011 (i.e 2 more seasons with the existing seatins0

I think they mean the waiting list is at around 7000 names with the assumption that most people on the list would want at least two tickets.

Not to be cynical - but (correct me if I'm wrong...) to be put on the waiting list, all you have to do is sign up. It's great that there is interested people, but when push comes to shove, I can see the number of people who actually are willing to purchase seats being much lower than 13,000. Especially when all the $280 seats are not available.

On the positive side 13k is an amazing number! Got to be tops in the league and one of the best in pro-sports (excluding NFL)

I think the Leafs (if I'm not mistaken) are really up there, but the highest is the Chicago Bears. (Yes I know you said excluding NFL)

Something like 95% of the tickets are STH's.

Minnesota Wild are really up there as well, they have the longest home sellout streak, going at well every game since their return to hockey.

Actually I believe the Giants are close to 100% seasons. Not sure if they are all seasons, but there are no single tickets available. And the waiting list for Packers seasons is a lifetime...

The reason I mentioned the Bears, is there was a report that they are the hardest to get tickets for in the NFL.

Perhaps ESPN lied to me.

I was thinking the same thing JonO was thinking. I've heard that you have to be in someone's will to get seasons tickets for Lambeau Field.

I think it was a travesty that the Stars moved out of Minnesota in the first place. It was a first of many failings of the NHL. Imagine the Leafs moving out of Toronto or the Habs out of Montreal? Minny is a hockey hotbed and the fact that the league didn't have a team there while wooing stupid locations for hockey teams like Arizona, Georgia and Florida should tell you about the NHL executive.

MrHawk

Well the owner saw a greener pasture in Dallas and moved the team.

It was a sad day, as Minnesota truly is "The State of Hockey". I don't recall any high school tournaments selling out the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, but they sell out the Xcel Energy Centre (and months ahead of time)

That is an interesting list, but I did not now that Washington has such a large gay community;

Washington Redskins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Redskins) 1966 155,000 Gay Men 18 years or younger No

Wikipedia could not be wrong.

I imagine the Red Sox, Yankees have ridonculously long waiting lists.

For seasons, maybe...but it's really not that hard to get single game tickets for either team, even on the day. Hell, with the Yankees, there were tickets available the morning of the very last game at Yankee Stadium. I mean, that's the end of an era right there...should have been sold out months in advance.

They sold eventually, but both the BoSox and Yankees seem to hold tickets for tourists...releasing a block a few hours before the first pitch.

I agree. If they re-posted on their site saying "here's whats available" I think a ton of people would opt out of buying seasons. I got offered one seat for $900 plus per year. Didn't take it when 2 of mine are $600.

unless it costs more than 600 bucks (50 bucks a month).

well it will be interesting to see how many of the 13K on the waiting list pick up tickets when the stadium is expanded especialy since the 2nd tier above the east stand will probably be dark greys similar to the west...

for seasons maybe.....but i know the yankees in recent years have averaged somethin like 53,000 fans a game, but the stadium fits 58,000 so it aint that hard to get tickets, unless they playing someone like the Red Sox, then its probably inpossible!

Boston Sell out every game, but they play in a much smaller stadium with 37,000 seats!

thats pretty good for Minnesota, and probably are 2nd next to the Leafs. But Leafs have sold out every game dated back to some time in the late 40's. And its a 25 year waitting list for Leaf Season tickets. So ya lets see if Minnesota is still selling out in say 2050!!!!! :D
