View Full Version : TFC should join English/Scottish League

Or someone should buy a smaller team in the English or Scottish league and move it here.

Okay, I realize there'd be obstacles to overcome.

But Toronto has proven it's a big enough market, probably the biggest under-served soccer market in the world. How many tickets would sell for those games 20,000, 40,000, 60,000? It would solve all our problems with playoff formats and salary cap and losing people to international duty. How long is the flight from Toronto to LA or Vancouver, it's not that much more to London or Manchester and hell, it's often cheaper.

Really, any other league would do. Isn't there a team from Wales already in the English league, so it's being done.

The trip from Wales to England can't even compare....and the time zone issue is ridculous...not feasible at all......

It's hard enough to bring in International clubs for friendlies, this is almost impossible.

Perfect idea BR! They can compete in both but let's not forget Serie A and the bwin liga!

And every year TFC will play the winners or runners up of all the leagues for the Toronto Cup!

In a playoff.

Considering the great news I will forgive BBC for calling Toronto "America"

It would be nice if TFC did a tour and played some exhibitions abroad similiar to how L.A. has gone to Australia for a tour in the past. It'd be something to watch in the offseason anyways.

TFC should join the NHL! I'd like to see Sean Avery try his shit in the same building as Danny Dichio...

Best post ever!

My tip would be smoke that pipe while wearing boxing gloves, and then you are safe from ever typing this kind of thing before you rejoin reality.

Oh and make sure you pee BEFORE sparking up and putting on the gloves.

At the begginning of the season I said this after the away game in Columbus, Toronto should enter a team in the Championship. The fan support was that good. Would be cool if MLS was a two team league like the SPL Toronto and Montreal maybe, battling it out every year for the league.

The funny thing is, if it weren't for travel issues, this would sort of make sense. Seeing as how Canada is still technically a constitutional monarchy. And I imagine with the increase in overall quality of football, we could easily pull 'Boro or Sunderland sized crowds to start.

The reality, of course, is that while Toronto FC might not mind travelling across the Atlantic every other week, no other EPL/SPL club would go for it.

Just a little Friday fun - I guess you needed to be following the playoff discussion to get it - sorry about that, too much of an inside joke.

What?? Back in the day Wimbeldon was almost bought and moved to Dublin and they would've remained in the English first division. A little further to travel though..:D

only country close enough to merge with is Mexico.....but doubt that would ever happen.
