Disappointing because this rules out any chance of them moving. This will just be another empty suburban mistake like Dick's in Colorado

i was just looking at the maps to see how far these stadiums are/would be in comparison to toronto... KC's stadium would be about 20km or so from Kansas city (letsay from downtown Toronto to Cawthra road in Mississauga. Dick's is closer to Denver.. about 16km or QEW/427 from downtown. Pizza Hut Park is something like 45km from Dallas, which is the equivalent of putting Toronto FC in downtown Burlington.

The distances sound crazy, but the urban dynamics in the US are often different than they are in Toronto. It’s often irrelevant to consider how far a venue is from the city’s downtown core. Some of these teams might have a decidedly suburban fan base. Yes, Dallas doesn’t seem to draw very well, but somehow they were profitable this year.

or, it's like putting BMO in Whitby.....which would be awesome for me btw.

I remember voting in a poll on this months back via some news media link someone posted.
I think it's great news and I posted my comment to that effect through the link,
Something like this;
Good to hear. I voted for the new stadium way back when there was a poll. Great result. Look forward to visiting KC when we come down and whoop your bbq sauced ass!

Now if they just change their name they'll finally be a real honest-to-goodness club.

well I look at it as better to have a proper pitch in driving distance than a baseball diamond downtown.

it's interesting that the baseball stadium they are in now is about the same distance from downtown as this new site ... just in a different direction.

I lived in KC for a year. Everything is spread out a lot more than most US urban areas, not such a big deal to drive around town to run errands, etc., so stadium location probably not a problem.

The complex, which will include a $100 million stadium; 12 tournament quality-soccer fields, 590 hotel rooms; 1,133,000 square feet of mixed-use retail; 1,700,000 square feet of office space and 18,249 parking spaces.

Wow...that's almost 1 parking spot per person!

If I'm not mistaken their attendance actually improved last year.
