No TFC news for now.

Columbus-New York. . . really?
Ben Knight,

Despite missing the playoffs for the second year on the trot, Toronto FC can take some encouragement from Sunday's unlikely MLS Cup final matchup – the Columbus Crew vs. New York Energy Drink.
“Unlikely” doesn't even begin to cover it. Columbus finished well out of the playoffs a year ago, with only TFC keeping them out of dead last place in the East Division. And New York? They qualified this season out of the eighth and final playoff spot – the one Toronto was still somehow chasing right up until that phantom last-minute penalty kick call in Dallas.
If anybody tells you Columbus-New York was his pre-season pick, he is almost certainly lying.

After all the recent talk of parity and the leagues dedication to it (minus LA) it's no surprise that any team can win any year. I suppose that hope springs eternal next year but it's to be seen. Will players be brought in and with time enough to gel?

Hey folks, there's a new movie coming out. It's about an average team that has had some rough spots and hasn't done many things right in the past 12 years. They go through coaches as much as people go through a pair of shoes (about a year); and players almost never stay at the club. The captain went into retirement; their star player got sold to a bigger club for millions; and a couple of their players have been banned from the sport because of illegal substances. They barely make it into the playoffs and somehow make it to the championship. There they meet a club that almost twice as good as them and then...

Sounds like a good storyline for a movie, doesn't it? Well, this is no movie.

One thing NYRB being in the championship game shows us is that the first third - maybe the first half - of the season is really pre-season. Sure, it would be great to have a full roster on opening day, but that's really a lower priority in MLS.

In this league there's some real gambling on filling up the cap before transfer windows in other leagues closes.

Beckham a modern day hero?

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi's son, Pier Silvio, has hailed Becks with praise, and believes the arrival of the LA Galaxy star will bring something special to the club.

"Beckham? He is a modern day hero," Berlusconi told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"Will he stay on permanently? We will see.http://www.goal.com/en/news/1708/ac-milan/2008/11/18/970178/berlusconi-jnr-beckham-is-a-modern-day-hero
