On the MLS site they have a story where its says columbus fans will fill they stadium for the game against the FIRE? Now where are these fans coming from, as they were not around for most of the MLS Season?
Is there 2,500 TFC fans going down just to make the Crew look good?
NO...Maybe the Fire fans will take a lot up to help fill the place...possible.
Or could it be the Crew have a lot of glory hunters jumping on the old bandwagon....exactly!! Come on the Fire!!!

hell.... I want them to fill the stadium at least once.
That way, when we say we've had plenty of them in a row,
they'll know exactly what they're missing out on.

If they win the MLS cup and TFC is their home opener next season ,TFC will have to watch the Crew get their Rings....yuk

11 000 last game....

Move the team to Montreal ffs! Whos idea was it to have teams in KC and Columbus? When you look at the names still lined up to get in that is really a JOKE.

The playoff attendances around the league, not just in Columbus, are shocking to say the least.

There's a difference between "expected to" and "would like to" fill the stadium. It helps to read the article.

They'd definitely fill the place up. Or tell them it's "football"... ;)

They filled it for GoldenBalls' appearance. However I have my doubts.

btw I think Garber is having a panic attack at the thought of a Columbus vs Shite Bulls final in LA. That empty stadium will look great on TV.

Yeah, they had something like just over 5,000 at New England, and apparently that was generous. And yet half the MLS fanbase insists they coudl never do without the playoffs.

Except for Houston who had 30,000 at their game.

All jokes aside I do hope they fill it.....I know it's Columbus but it's still good for the league.

One of the problems I think is that they rush into the playoffs.
The season ended on a Sunday and they had playoff games on the next Thursday. That's 3-4 days to sell tickets to a game. Yes you can sell them earlier but they didn't knwo the match ups until the last day of the season.

I think the attendance numbers for the 2nd legs of the first round of playoffs are better than the first for that reason.

Maybe they should consider a longer break (like a week and a half) so that teams can market and have time to sell tickets.

columbus wouldn't know how to fill their stadium if 22,555 people actualy showed up on gameday with paid tickets.

That is when it looks really sweet to have 2500 people turn their backs on the pitch as one......

No I think it has more to do with the fact that the football season is in full-swing by the time the playoffs roll around. The weather gets worse in a lot of MLS cities. I wish they you drop the whole playoff system and use the MLS cup as a seperate competition that runs throughout the season (similar to the FA Cup and League Cup) Have the final at the same time. Not sure the Cup final should be given to a team before hand because thats gotta hurt attendances.

Houstons a tad warmer then Columbus or New England.... maybe start the season in early march and have the MLS cup in mid-late October???

I think Houston's warmer than the Northeast more than by just a tad...still, Columbus have had difficulty filling stands when they're winning, it's gonna be hard to imagine them filling it up now.

Unless people in Ohio have a grudge against Chicago, I doubt the game will be a full house.

Plus the NE game was on a thursday night and Gilette stadium is literally in the middle of nowhere.

I don't really blame them. If they get their new SSS on the subway line, which is the current rumour, they'll have sellouts every game.

strong chicago contingent too.

their supporter section looked really good and they were loud. also I think the empty seats were up in the top of the second deck and the end opposite the stage.

After watching that clip from You Tube, I must say that the atmosphere at Crew Stadium that other night was impressive. It was noisy and the supporters section put on a good show. You don't get that type of singing and chanting at too many of the other big time sports here in North America. How many hockey or baseball , basketball or NFL games will you see that kind of singing and chanting, not many, however, you are starting to see it at a few MLS stadiums and this kind of atmosphere will only grow as the league goes on. No need to move Columbus they are on the right track. Now if only we can get our guys in the playoffs imagine what our fans might be capable of.

Chicago filled at most 20% of the south end. Seems kind of weak, even for a week night.

I don't how that video is so impressive. The camera guy looks like he's obviously trying to keep the empty stands across the pitch out of the view. Putting a camera and mike in with a crowd of cheering fans will always sound more intense than it actually is. It's not terrible by any stretch, but I'm not really blown away by it.

Crew Stadium's capacity is around a little more than 20,000, there was 14,900 there that night. The empty seats were located in most of the upper bowl seats on one side and half of the upper bowl seats on the other side and half of the seats behind one of the nets were TFC fans sat back in March. Yes there were over 5,000 empty seats, but when you play in a smaller stadium even when the stadium is not totaly full you can still get some good atmospere happening, this is the reason why the league would like their teams to player in smaller venues rather than big caneverous stadiums.
