I got my email, apparently scheduled for Thursday, but there's no time given in the email! Here's the part about when they're calling:

Your phone appointment time (based on your inception date) is scheduled for:
Thursday, November 27, 20

That's it! The rest of the email is there, but there's no time! Agh.

I got the exact same message. I was wondering what 20 is - 8pm? - but I guess we will each get a revised e-mail shortly.

EDIT: I just got my second e-mail. My appointment is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 27, at 1:45 p.m.

Yeah, but the problem is in what section they're in. I'm willing to go to medium grey, but no higher, which may result in me being out of luck. Oh well, we'll have to see, hopefully some people ahead of me were struck down by the financial crisis, can't afford food anymore, and so will pass on their tickets. Think happy thoughts.

Hate to break it to you but I just talked to their office and there are 5 guys doing the calling so if averaging 1 call for every 15 min it may be closer to 5 calls every 15 min except when they are taking a pee or having lunch. I have my appointment Friday morning and I am too disheartened to do any math.

Chapman
11-24-2008, 03:57 PM
There is a maximum purchase of 2 season tickets per account (with the exception of various 3 packs).
Your 2009 package limit will be based on your 2008 purchase.

Does that mean you can have up to a maximum of 2 tickets but if you only had a single last season you can only get a single???

Steve

yeah, that's what I was afraid of (and didn't want to even contemplate). That means, for me, there will be about 500 people called before I get a shot, which leaves me with... not a great chance at tickets. I really hope that isn't correct though.

Well to be the optimist he said there are 5 guys there that are doing the calling but doesn't mean all the time since they have to take breaks at some point. Actually if we are lucky they will just take turns at calling and bring us down to that maybe 2 or 3 per 15 min since doing 5 calls every 15 min is pretty agressive and that would mean no breaks for them.

Also, if not Seasons you will at least get a shot at something since the total amount of tickets being offered across all that are available are 2200. At least it keeps you on the Gold list for next year even if you are forced to own Marlies tickets.

Sucks for those who are at the top of the list because it means less games but good for people further down because more people get a shot at seeing some. I am more disheartened by the 1200 All-Season packs. Using the popularity of TFC to fill a gap in Marlies ticket sales really sucks but I guess MLSE don't really give a crap what we think. If I don't buy them somebody else will is what it comes down to so I guess I may have to find some Marlies fans for my Christmas list.

If that's true that's ridiculous. See, I had assumed that when Paul told us they would be ensuring the waiting list moved this year, and that they would be holding back half of the tickets from the platinum list, he meant he would be dividing them up before selling any (as in, the same number of light greys available to both lists). Apparently he just meant they would sell to the platinum list, but just make sure they didn't buy all the tickets.

Well, that's ridiculous. Oh, and if I get the shot at a partial pack again this year, I get to go to fewer games! Ya! I really feel like I'm moving up!

They way I read it is you will only be allowed to buy 2 Seasons Tickets per account. So if you purchased and east and a west on your account you can still only get a max. of 2 season seats.

I wish they kept the east & west packages again. I had the west pack last year and traded half my tickets with a friend who had the east. That way, at least we were able to attend just about every game. Now we'll probably end up with multiples for some games and none for others. Sucks they changed that.

egoodwin
11-24-2008, 06:08 PM
well you could probably always just trade the multiples

Pookie
11-24-2008, 06:38 PM
Doing the math just creates anxiety and there are plenty of ways to look at it.

The later your appointment the less likely you are to land tickets.

Or you could look at it and reason that a number of folks will pass on the opportunity to pay a minimum price of $1,840 ($920/ticket).

As long as partial packs still have access to the ticket exchange, you should be able to catch every match. If that is the case, that might be the route that the "cost conscious" fans go. Through the exchange, they can pick and choose the games they attend and coin they drop.

I don't quite understand why the total cost of the Light Grey tickets in the Partial Packs ends up costing more than if the tickets were purchased seperately (not withstanding availability issues)

Price of Light Grey Partial Pack = $162 (3 regular games; 2 premium; 1 Canada cup)

Single ticket pricing would be as follows
3 games (regular) @ $21.00 each = 63
2 games (premium) @ $35.00 each = 70
1 game (Canada cup) @ $21.00 = 21

Total cost = $154.00

Do you get knocked off the list if you do not buy anything, The reason I ask is that I only got onto the gold list in the middle of last year when I bought the Canada/Friendlies package for $115, which if I remember correctly was sold in June. As of a result of my late purchase my appointment is not until December 8th.

Also my buddy who only has two season tickets added two in 111 (light grey) under his name for me during the platinum period, so I am covered for the entire season.

If that is indeed true, then it's quite disappointing. I realize that as merely a member of the Gold waiting list, I should be happy for any scraps thrown my way, but I was also expecting a bit more variety in terms of tickets that would be available. It seems strange to reserve only the more expensive tickets as a "reward" for those on the waiting list. Unfortunately we're not all able to afford those tickets.

Your 2009 package limit will be based on your 2008 purchase.

This part also concerns me. Last year I was able to buy both of the "half" season packs, for a total of 14 MLS games. Does this mean that I will only be able to buy two partial packages again, but now for a total of only 10 or 11 games? It's starting to feel like I'm moving backwards here, not forwards.

They saved 250 for the platinum list and 400 for the gold list.
Does that mean 200 will be up for grabs to the RED list?

Additional Information:

Phone appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes and cannot be changed.
If you are unavailable during your appointment time, we suggest assigning a friend, partner or family member to take the call and select seats on your behalf.
There is a maximum purchase of 2 season tickets per account (with the exception of various 3 packs).
Your 2009 package limit will be based on your 2008 purchase.
If you purchase season tickets, you will be elevated to the Platinum List and will no longer be on the Gold List going forward.
Seat locations for Partial packs and All Season Sports packs may change for 2010.
The Toronto FC games included in the various packages will be determined once the 2009 MLS schedule is released.
From this email, it looks like you can buy the same number of packages for next year if you don't get Season tickets.

For example, I bought East and West extortion pack as well as the Canadian Championship/International Friendly pack. I had tickets to every game with the exception of the Galaxy.

From that, I would say that I bought 3 packs and should have the opportunity to do so again. Therefore, you could theoretically buy all 3 packs (without Marlies) and have every game with the exception of 1 MLS game at the Lite Grey price of $484 (package D and E $162 each plus package F $150 each), as opposed to full seasons at $920 in the Dark Grey area. The only difference being 1 less MLS game (regular game) and the Concacaf game.

Toronto FC Partial Packages

Package D – Home Finale

3 Regular MLS, 2 Premium MLS (including home finale) and 1 Canadian Championship match
Medium Grey = $216/seat
Light Grey = $162/seat

Package E - Home Opener

3 Regular MLS, 2 Premium MLS (including home opener) and 1 Canadian Championship match
Medium Grey = $216/seat
Light Grey = $162/seat

Package F - Friendly

3 Regular MLS, 1 Premium MLS and 1 Friendly Match
Medium Grey = $207/seat
Light Grey = $150/seat

So for those who don't want to step up to Prawn seats, you may have a chance to get close to full seasons depending on what you bought this year.

Problem is, you will have to go through the same type of hassle at the end of next year but at least, you may be closer to the top of the list.

If you have to take Marlies tickets, then it costs more than Dark Grey seasons.

Good luck to everyone on the call list.

Picking up Packages D, E and F at the light grey price range is not a bad way to get access to almost all the games (minus 1 game).

...maybe. Given the practices of MLSE is it really safe to assume that the regular MLS games included in each package will be different games? None of those packages specify east or west.

Just a thought.

Yes, it is safe to assume that. Think of it this way, you have one seat for sale, and 18 games to sell it. If you want to bundle it up into packages, the easiest way is to just divide the season in 3 (however you want) and allocate that ticket to each of the divisions. That way you sell that 1 seats three times. They would have done the same for every seat they wanted to sell that way, and divided them to same ways. Using any other system (dividing each seat in a different way) would be needlessly complex and do nothing but waste resources.

I think they will be different. Two packages each feature five MLS games plus a NCC game, while the third package features four MLS games and an international friendly. If you do the math, that works out to 14 MLS games, two NCC games and one friendly, or 17 games total. The only game that's missing from that equation is the Galaxy league match, which will undoubtedly become available at some point early in the season.;)

If it's possible to buy all three packages, they are unquestionably a better deal than going for expensive seasons. Dark-grey seasons go for $920 a ticket, while medium-grey and light-grey partial packs would work out to $639 and $474 respectively for an entire season - minus the Beckham game, of course. The only real advantage of buying prawn seasons is that you will get bumped up to the Platinum waiting list, which may provide the chance for you to move to cheaper seasons next year.

I see the logic in that.

Hopefully the reps will have clarification on this during the appointment calls. It would be great to buy as many separate packages as your account allows based on last year's purchase to get seats to as many games as possible.

For example, if you had 4 seats in an east or west package last year you could buy 2 seats in the Home Opener and 2 in the Home closer package.

I don't think it is the Beckham game actually.

There are 5 premium games and 10 regular games next year and the packages work out to 9 regular and 5 premium. I think they caught a lot of grief this year by not including the Galaxy game in either package and want to avoid the hassle.

The question will be which package do they stick the Galaxy game in - I think it will be package F which included the friendly game.

The other packs have either Home opener/Home Finale + 1 of either Montreal/Vancouver.

The friendly game may be a tough sell as noone knows who it's going to be and the Galxy game added to that pack would help sell it as it may be the only marquee event in that pack.

It depends on how many you bought last year by the looks of it.

If you bought 1 last year, you can buy 1 this year, if you bought 2...etc, etc. At least that's how I'm reading this line fom the email.

Your 2009 package limit will be based on your 2008 purchase.

If you bought all 3 last year (East/West/International and CC), then you should be able to get 3 packs this year and get all the games save 1.

Unless someone else has info?

He offered me season tickets in the dark grey section (those that go for $920 each). Considering I am also a Raps season ticket holder it was a little too much for me so I had to settle for the "Home Opener Package" ($162 each). Seats are in section 110 which I am happy with!

I got a dark grey in 223 at $932ea. If I pay that much, I might as well be centre of the field and enjoy the skyline as well. Although, I think I'll be in the beer garden most of the time. I had two seats for both half seasons last year and I had the option of getting two season tickets or 1 seat in up to four of the Packages .

I also figure, I get 1 extra game, platinum list (easier to "downgrade") - no worrying with waiting lists, special events, exclusive presales, and hopefully a scarf. The 1 extra game and scarf probably work out to $50-75. I still get to party with RPB before the game

I purchased Packages D and E in the light-grey range. Both of my packs include a pair of tickets in section 111, row 31.

Given the choice between spending roughly $1,850 on prawn seats or $660 for seats in a supporters' section, it was a no-brainer for me. As long as I can watch the majority of games from a boisterous section, I don't mind staying on the Gold list for a while. I can always use the $1,200 I saved to buy the remaining tickets off of the ticket exchange.

On the platinum call I was offered singles in 224 that were 5 rows apart so I gambled and turned them down to see what came up on the Gold list call - and the news couldn't be better. We were able to get the seats next to ours, so we now have 4 consecutive season's seats! They're in the prawns, but they're under the awning in 222, so we don't get wet when it rains. woot!

how many seats/packs did you have last year ?

I had a pair in each of the Western and Eastern Conference packs - four tickets total. Given that fact, I was given the option of picking up two packs again this time around.

One thing that's worth noting, and my rep suggested this to me, is that you can increase the number of tickets you own by purchasing three tickets instead of two. TFC's reps are trying to move clusters of three tickets without splitting them up.

The top half of 110 will be a supporters section next year, as will be sections 111, 119 and 127. These sections have been given the same status - i.e. standing, flag waiving - as the south end.

My rep offered to sell me three seats side-by-side per pack instead of two. The rationale behind this is that the club doesn't want to split up these clusters of tickets, because that would result in more singles. If I had opted to go that route, I could've purchased more than my allotment of four tickets from last season.

Even if you can get three tickets in partial pack, it's worth noting that you're still limited in the number of packages you can purchase. If you bought only one pack last season, you can buy only one for next season.

Probably not great. I'm sure you can buy a single ticket in two separate packs, but that's about it. Unless you want to buy most of your tickets through the ticket exchange, you might want to consider full seasons.

Unfortunately no. Existing Gold listers are more or less limited to the number of packages they purchased last year. As a red lister, I have no idea what you will be limited to buying, but I'm guessing the club will let you pick up one pack. I could be wrong, so it's worth asking when you get your call.

How many packs would I be eligible for this yr?

Wow, thats a pretty steep penalty. What if times are tough this year with extra budgeting for entertainment. You lose out on your place in line for next year. Rough.

package D still has seats left in all the sections -- i got section 110, and yes, they warn you that you will not be sitting :)

seasons, it's dark grey and red as mentioned.

i was offered 3 seats as well, (had 2 last season) so if there are 3 grouped then you will be able to take 3 as apposed to 2 (as mentioned earlier)

Do you know if there any more pairs in 224 left after yours? Or just East stands left? I have an appointment tomorrow at 9:45 AM so just wondering what they have left over so far if you know. I know I definitely can't afford 3 tickets together so looking for just a pair.

Sorry, I don't really know. I asked explicitly for the west stand, and was offered something in 222. I asked about 121 and 125, and was told there were none there. Finally I asked for the lowest seats in 222 through 224, and was then offered 224, Row 19, which I bought.

Well, congrats on getting your tickets. Any reason why the West stand? I was in 120 last year for my half pack and enjoyed being closer to the field so I thought the East stand would be more popular due to proximity to the field. Besides the full sun being a possible issue for some wondering if there are more advantages to West stand that I am overlooking.

For wonderbreads like me, less sun is a big plus. The added bonus of my new seats will be roof coverage as well. That's about it for me, I guess.

Well I got my call about renewing my 1/2 seaosn ticket package from last season. I am very disappointed in what I am just now finding out. Rather than explain the situation again, here is the body of the email I just sent to the ticket rep I spoke to over the phone today
_________________________________________

Hi.

I recieved a phone cal yesterday about renewing my 1/2 season ticket packege.

I was not informed of the 'all season sports pack' that I was purchasing. I was told that I could switch my seats and get a different pack but I was not told that this pack included 6 Toronto Marlies tickets which I have no intention of using and have never expressed any interest in purchasing.

I was not told that I was ordering 'pack C' nor was I informed of what 'Pack C' entailed. I asked to renew my 1/2 season seat package from the previous season, and was then informed that I could select different seats if I chose. I took up my sales rep on the offer of moving seats and when the matter of which tickets I was going to purchase came up, I opted for the package that I was told included 4 MLS games and 1 international friendly.

At no point in my call was I told that Toronto Marlies tickets were being added to my purchase nor was I informed that I would be receiving 'Pack C' which I am now finding out included 6 Toronto Marlies tickets.

I was a 'Western Conference Pack' 1/2 season ticket holder last season and was not aware that Toronto Marlies tickets had anything to do with my purchase.

Please contact me ASAP to re-structure my 1/2 season ticket package and to rectify this problem ASAP.

I made clear to my sales rep at the beginning of the phone call that I had not received any information regarding ticket renewals from the club and that the phone call I was having was the very first information or communication I had had about my ticket renewals.

This is very disappointing to have to find out through account statement that I have been charged for 09PACKC which evidently includes Toronto Marlies tickets that are neither wanted, nor were they a consented to purchase.

I expect a quick and satisfactory resolution to my consumer complaint and I hope to continue my support of Toronto FC; however being charged for 6 hockey tickets when I was renewing my 08 1/2 Season Ticket Western Conference pack is a very unpleasant surprise to come upon and does not give me confidence that my needs as a consumer are being met.

Thank you.

Ok, just finished my appointment. They still have pairs of Dark Grey's left in 106,107,108,109,222 and 224. I went for a pair 108 since I wasn't able to get into the section I wanted so I went for as close to midfield as possible for this year. There's always the seat relocation next year.

Get in line for relocation I was yesterday so you're behind me! :p

Before yesterday I was against expansion. Now after not getting any special treatment and having to "settle" for dark greys, I'm all for it! Expand away and increase the relocation potential!

Yes they are still offering Reds but didn't inquire about them at all because the Dark Grey was extremely tough for me to afford so Red section was definitely out of the question. I wouldn't say that yet you definitely have a chance at a package at least.
Plus when my rep was going through some of the dark grey seats for full seasons with me it seem like he had quite the list he was going through and that was only for 109. I think the biggest thing would be how many full season tickets you are looking for.

Grabbed tcx in 222, had some left in 106,107,108,109 also. (Didn't ask about Reds) Also had 3's in 224. A bit more than I want to spend, but a foot in the door to relocate next year. Not looking promising for me and my Tuesday appointment :(

You never know.

I think there are 2 groups of people on the Gold list.

1) Those who have no interest in Dark Grey sections, but have bent over and bought them because they're sick of the waiting list/ticketmaster/pre-sale codes/stub hub/marlies tickets etc. etc.

2) Those who have no interest in Dark Grey sections and value i) a good section for supporters and ii) low costs more than the security and special treatment that season's tickets would gives them.

From what I've been reading on different boards, it seems likes there's more #2s or at the worst it's 50-50.

No one really wants Dark Grays. They want just want tickets.
Since no one really truly is scrambling for what's being specifically offered I bet there'll be east side tickets available next Tuesday.

I think you are right. I'm also noticing that no one has stepped up and grabbed a pair of Reds, or at least admitted it.

What will be really interesting if the Dark Greys sell out will be to see how many dig deep and shell out over $3k on Reds.

Is the desire for season seats that strong or will most snap up the packs?

Truth be told, the packs are a decent value with the access to the ticket exchange. I bought a number of seats off that last year for friends and family and there was usually a fairly large selection, particularly in the days leading up to the game.

You really can get to every game without season tickets.

Good point. I don't have season seats and have been to every game except maybe 2 in the last two years. I had no package in the first year and just a half season last year. I've never had to purchase from a scalper ... or at least never pay over face value anyway.

exactly, Hey and their looks like there's a few of us in that section to slowly turn it around. If in the future they expand the stadium (3 - 5 years), we are season ticket holders and we will be the first to relocate. So Cementhead and TFC_YNWA and anyone else in that section lets try to have a blast and next year we might be in different sections.

row 24 - will do. If someone tells me to sit down, I will tell them that row 32 doesn't have an issue. We actually don't have too much of an issue but it was a pain in the ass when all of the golf clappers showed up to watch Soccer Spice. Most times when we were asked to sit down we start yelling 'east side stand up' and the section will do so for a few minutes - that pisses people off

Yah definitely grab up more 109s i really hope they do get filled with supporters. I think what was killing them was they were withheld by the FO to sell as group and corporate packages. So often they were filled with people who were entirely unaware of the game going on in front and the support needed.
With the FO now seemingly only offering those sections i hope they are trying to limit those packages and really fill the stadium with full time supporters.
For those worried about ticket numbers during the platinum list they sent out a second email when supplies were low just to let people know that if they didn't get a call then tickets ran out. So assuming they would send that email out again and haven't yet, then numbers could still be good.

Wow after reading the last two pages im really kicking myself for not attempting a move.

I sit in 111 beside a family which really sucks. They never ask me to tone down town any offensiveness, but I still feel guilty. I wanted switch to 110 as I basically spent the whole season there in vacant seats near where some of my friends are but figured it was futile to try given a few hopeless stories I had heard about ticket switches last year.

So I got 109 as well....last row...I had 106 5 rows up in 28 as I asked for "closest to the pitch"...but then called back and switched closer to the "action"

Just got my call. Apparently there's less than 10 seasons tickets left in 109. Lots still available in 106 and 107.

The pair would have cost about $1,800. I'm renewing my half-pack instead.

Any news on how many half season packs are left?

When I had my call there was tickets left in Package D and Package F at both price levels. Don't know how many.....but two price points in the two packages.

Probably safe to assume that they haven't sold any Marlie Packages yet. :)

I just got a partial pack in section 111, row 31. I have the "Home Finale" pack. I didn't really want to drop $1800 for two tickets in a section I didn't really want to be in, so I guess next year I can hopefully upgrade to full seasons.

I was going to do the same but problem with that is everyone who bought the $1800 seats that didn't really want to this year will relocate to any cheaper seats that come up next year so when the Gold list gets their shot again next year it will be Dark Grey and Reds again that are available. Without a stadium expansion I think this will be the pattern so I that's why I chose to take the hit this year and my buddy picked up $700 worth of seats so I can still give my kids a Christmas.:D At least I still get to 11 games and hopefully downgrade next year with the rest that are doing the same as me (if possible).

Thats what im doing. Im perfectly find with only going to half the games.

Im not shelling out Maple Leafs kind of money for a team with a 3 million dollar payroll.

Ill take my half-season tickets until we get some stadium expansion no problem.

I thought about taking the hit, but I had the option of buying two packs, which covers two-thirds of the season anyway. The only advantage buying full seasons would have afforded me is a move to the Platinum waiting list. That move may have been something that paid off, but there's no guarantee that cheaper season tickets would have become available next year, especially to someone being placed at the BOTTOM of the Platinum list.

On the whole, I'm happy with my partial-season purchases. When BMO Field is expanded, I may have a better selection of season tickets available to me. Until then, I'm sure I will have no problem acquiring packages in similarly-affordable sections.

I had to do the same thing as well...

I was all set to get full seasons in lower 110 where I used to have my half seasons, but they didn't have any in that price range, nor could I renew my halfs in 110, so now i'm 2 rows from the top in 111.
$1800 is a lot to ask when I was set to pay $1200.

Now I have spent $336.00 and kind of feel let down once again by TFC and it really sucks.

You're probably sitting right beside me. I was mid-110 last year, and was kicked back to 111 Row 31 :(

Once you sort out who and where you are, co-ordinate yourselves. Don't just show up expecting to be a hit.
