TFC's Dichio ponders his future after slow recovery from concussion
Veteran striker admits he might not play next year; 'I've got to think about my health'
MORGAN CAMPBELL
For the first time since early spring, Toronto FC is on a three-game unbeaten streak, and head coach John Carver attributes the squad's recent success to two factors: Desperation and Danny Dichio.
He says the desperation comes as the season winds down and he reminds players that next year's jobs depend on this year's performances. And with Dichio healthy, fit and back in the starting lineup, Carver says the whole team, especially fellow forward Chad Barrett, receives a boost.

Carver wants to stay with TFC

TORONTO — With a Major League Soccer playoff spot still ever-so faintly possible, at least mathematically, Toronto FC head coach John Carver said Thursday that he is happy with the progress that has been made.
And, in case there are any doubts, he said that he wants to be part of what happens next year.
"Absolutely, I want to be here," he said Thursday as the team prepared for the final home game of the season on Saturday at BMO Field against the Chicago Fire.

Dichio done?
By DEAN MCNULTY (dean.mcnulty@sunmedia.ca), SUN MEDIA
Danny Dichio -- Toronto FC's most popular player -- said yesterday that tomorrow's Major League Soccer match against Chicago Fire at BMO Field could be his last as a Red.
The man who scored the franchise's first professional goal and is the leading scorer in team history, said that this past season has given him new perspective on his longevity as a player.
Dichio spent much of the 2008 season recovering from a concussion suffered on Canada Day against the Vancouver Whitecaps and only in the past three games has he been effective in his role as the team's most physical attacker.

Gillett hopes to follow Toronto's lead for once
ROBERT MACLEOD
Given the long and passionate rivalry that exists between the two Canadian hockey hotbeds, it was unexpected to hear the owner of the Montreal Canadiens lavish praise on the City of Toronto.
But fear not, Habs fans, George Gillett was speaking in the context of soccer, not hockey, when he spoke in glowing terms yesterday of how Toronto's successful Major League Soccer team could help jump-start his bid to land a franchise for Montreal.

TFC hope to fuel hopes against Fire
Reds look to close in on playoff spot as Fire zero in on No. 2 seed
After taking four points from two road games, Toronto FC is looking to regain their home dominance and keep alive their hopes for a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs, when they play host to the Chicago Fire at BMO Field. TFC still sits at the foot of the Eastern Conference, yet is just four points out of the final wild card spot with two games yet to play. While the Fire have already clinched their spot in the postseason, they are trying to lock down home-field advantage in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series; while they hold the tiebreaker, they are tied with the New England Revolution with two matches yet to play.
