I'd be pretty pissed if this turned out to be true!

I thought I remember us having a thread on this. Or maybe that's just because it was on MLS rumors a couple weeks back. Either way, interesting stuff... I'm really looking forward to Seattle next year for some reason. Maybe because it's the first promoted club to MLS (not technically or literally but in principle).

if a player like huckerby can take the league and run it the way he has, i can only imagine what this guy will do here.

Well you know Seattle's going to get some big name to wear their XBOX uniform.

Why can't we get Blackberry to sponsor TFC? Someone who wants their name shown past just Canada?

^^ I agree on the sponsor suggestion, I had mentioned the same when the issue was first brought up. BMO seems so... wrong in so many ways. Stadium is one thing, but both stadium and jersey is too much IMO

no matter what Freddy could do in MLS, he's still just one guy. Remember that before Huckerby came to San Jose, they were in last place. Now, they are still in last place.
If Seattle has both Freddy and Henry (by getting a second DP slot) they'll be in last place, as the rest of the team would be a hunk of cheap junk (see LA).

^^ unless they change the DP rule to exclude the entire salary from the cap

…another way past his "best before date"…I always liked Freddie but wouldn't want him here…he'd miss more games than he'd play.

I would rather Toronto FC pick up some young player who has lots of talent and can really score some goals or help inprove the team but is kind of unknown yet amoung the big star names then pick up some star who everyone knows but is passed his prime! Im sure alot of other fans would like that to.

MLS stop getting passed expired players!

It just too tempting James.

Fans, like right here on this board, demanding DP's and splashing of cash…it appears to be easy fixes but we've already been bitten.

Look no further than Robert…if we signed Freddie I'd be totally pissed…

Exactly. The way people over-estimate what is required to excel here is beyond me.

Yes and no. While it does not take the greatest skill to excel in MLS, some will fare better than others due to the style and pace of play.

It'll be even more wrong if Montreal enters MLS.

Of course. But look at Ljungberg vs Huckerby. Or Angel. Or Blanco. Even Landycakes. this guy's forgotten more football than any of them no. I hate the man. He's Gooner scum, so don't think I'm just blowing smoke because of Arsenal. The guy is pretty much a genius with a football, and to think he couldn't adapt to the game here is quite nuts, if you ask me. I mean, Edson Buddle has 14 goals here. Are we going to compare him to Freddie Ljungberg?

^ Don't get me wrong - I agree with you about Ljungberg (assuming he can stay healthy). Just comment on the general statement is all. Besides - it would give my son a chance to were his Sweden Ljungberg jersey ;)

Talk about raiding the Gunners retirement home, hell Parlor is kicking around somewhere

I personnally think Ljungberg would be a very good signing for us and would add alot to the team by having him play here. I would be upset if Mo didn't even consider
getting him.

^I think the major concern is not his play but the injuries. It would be tough to pay him the money he would demand and have him be out for half of the year

technically bmo went torontoian long time ago...

"BMO (pronounced Bee-Moe) today is a major international bank with 1,100 branches across Canada and around the world. In 1977, BMO's operational headquarters moved to Toronto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto), while its legal head office remained in Montreal. Today, Bank of Montreal has assets of more than $387 billion"

wow wiki's good for some stuff..

Proposed merger with RBC (1998)

In 1998 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998_in_Canada) Bank of Montreal shocked the Canadian financial community by announcing plans to merge with RBC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Bank_of_Canada). The Canadian government later blocked the proposed merger. In December 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000), the banks were successful in merging their credit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_card) and debit card (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debit_card) processing services to form Moneris Solutions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moneris_Solutions).

It's up to the player if he wants to put in the effort once he finds his American payday. Blanco, Huckerby were great acquisitions for the league. Every team has players that are more presence than production. Would we look at Sutton and Brennan the exact same way if they were not Canadian? I don't think the league should be agist when one factors in what a well known player can do for a dressing room.

But I agree with your sentiment on young unknown talent. I want it. But then the club doesn't usually have to pay DP money for it.
