Wow, we could've had a domestic lad for next to nothing.

Yeah, and he's a fan favourite at RSL already.

Maybe he refused to play here.

The turf maybe?

Turf, weather, lack of somethign different and exciting. If you've been living overseas for awhile, Canada can feel very...(hmm, how do I put this tactfully.)....

Safe.

Might also be that he's the player Mo was referring to on GOLtv when he said he could've got the team some helped but it would have messed up his plans for next season.

the big question-how much allocation money is paying the rest of his salary ?

All this allocation and salary cap talk hurts my head.

Let's also remember we would of had to deal with Chicago in obtaining his rights...I wouldn't be surprised if ego came into play between GMs.

Probably none. Johnson's salary is listed on the MLS players' union website.

Maybe he refused to play here.

That would have to be the reason. As little as I think of Mo, I doubt he would be so stupid as to pass on Will Johnson for that price.

Maybe he's an LDS church member.

Chicago owned Johnson's rights and they didn't want to deal with MOJO after the Barrett/ Mcbride trade.

we may not know if that's his actual salary for a full season. guys who come in late to the season have had prorated salaries in those lists. (samuel was one last year).
Samuel was just over 100K in 2007, and this year he was near 200K, but the per-game rate was the same for both seasons (so his 2007 contract was for 200K, but because he was only able to play half a season, he was listed at just over 100K in 2007).
so it's possible Johnson is making over 100K.

Anyhow, I've noticed some disdain for Will Johnson on the RSL boards.
I watched that Rio Tinto opener, and Johnson had a lot of problems in that match. RSL fans seemed to suggest that performance was not unusual.

How soon we forget.
This occured almost right after the McBride deal.

Of course, I mean there are going to be some 35 year old League 2 wingers available before the start of next season.

Who would you rather have? A 21 year old domestic rising talent with dutch eredivise experience and international experience

OR

A 35 year old who once starred in League 1 before his team was relegated? Come on guys.... Mo is king!

Johnson won't be missed by TFC Real are welcome to him. We need a big signing to help this club and Johnson is not it. DeRo maybe...if the rumours he wants to leave Houston are true, but he wont come cheap. I would Like Mo never to deal with Chicago again, as well as another club . see what happens.

That's what I was thinking.

Jloome is right -- Canada, compared to most of the rest of the world, is like your grandparent's house on Christmas, but I don't think Utah would really be that much better.

There's gotta be another reason.

Even though that is very likely the case, it is definitely not verified that this was indeed the reason why we didn't get Will Johnson.
