SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras — Canada's road to the 2010 World Cup ended with a 3-1 loss in Honduras on Saturday night, extending a men's soccer drought that dates back to 1986.
The defeat was the third successive for Dale Mitchell's team, which has managed just one draw in four outings in a tough group in this round of CONCACAF qualifying. The Canadian men have two games remaining, including a date Wednesday in Edmonton with Mexico, but they are meaningless.

Toronto FC, Dallas battle to stalemate

If only they awarded three points for moral victories.

Marvell Wynne scored his second goal of the season with two minutes left in regulation to give Toronto a 2-1 lead. Reds stunned by late penalty kick
Toronto FC see chance for three points taken away

FRISCO, Texas -- In the 88th minute, Toronto FC seemed to have gotten just a little bit closer to a remarkable rebound for a playoff spot. But a second late penalty kick in as many games for FC Dallas left the teams with a 2-2 draw at Pizza Hut Park. TFC got goals from Marco Velez in the 72nd minute and Marvell Wynne in the 88th, overcoming a first-half goal from Kenny Cooper.

Late goal negates furious Reds comeback
Wild finish forces Toronto FC to settle for draw with Dallas

FRISCO, Texas -- A wild turn of events negated a furious second-half rally by Toronto FC on Saturday, and forced the Reds to settle for a point after seemingly having the win sewn up. Kenny Cooper converted a penalty kick in extra time -- on a second attempt -- for his second goal of the night and 18th of the season. With the 2-2 draw, Toronto remained in contention for a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Giving up that extra time penalty goal to Dallas was bad enough. Canada losing to Honduras 3-1, thus being eliminated from World Cup play, really bites the big one! :banghead:

Fair enough, even with 2 of the young Canadians in there last night and we fought tooth and nail :canada::canada:

Tough schedules for everyone chasing. It's still potentially doable, however unlikely.

This whole year has been bad for Canadian footy.
The only miniscule source of light was the U-23's run for the Olympic qualifiers. The rest has been a disaster.
I need to jump in a hole and drink my sorrows away...:drunk::skep:

Why do people on this board give a shit about Montreal?

Who gives a shit!!!!? The idea that there is this Canadian soccer community that we should support is bullshit.

I am a Toronto FC supporter and Montreal and Vancouver and any other Canadian team can fuck off and die.

It scares me to think that people support the Impact after TFC is knocked out of the CCL.....ARE YOU RED? GET A FUCKING CLUE!!! YOU HALF ASSED TRY HARDS!

The reason it looks better if Montreal does well is because it helps to prove that Canada deserves a spot in the Champions League.
I'm not an Impact supporter, but if their success means we are in with a locked spot, why the hell not?
Remember the Canadian spot isn't even guaranteed, we still have to pre-qualify for the actual tourney and even then it's only a 3 year trial.

i'm torn on Montreal.. on one hand I have those awful visions in my dreams of them jumping up and down celebrating on our pitch.. and my anger as I heckled a celebratory Matt Jordan and Adam Braz. now, I have been watching the CC.. not so much to root for Montreal as to see how it goes for them. And when they are playing those dirty, diving cheat central american teams, or the caribbean big attitude "we're gonna win by 4 goals" teams, I take some satisfaction in a Canadian side beating them. but it's tough to do, given that it's the LIMP ACT!
