Looks like this guy played in our reserves game. Probably just filler but another British Isles player Carver and Mo were having a look at.

Mark Bendenikovic and Daniel Nasciemento played in their second reserve games

Does anyone know how old Nasciemento is? Lots of people have been asking about him lately. Dev. roster for next year maybe.

Wonder why Brian Edwards wasn't on the bench/playing? Injury? JP Francini looks like he was an NCAA keeper last year.

Francini was in camp with the Red Bulls earlier this year. I think he was probably called in to serve as an emergency goal keeper for TFC .

Grist played with the Lynx this year as well. Interestingly, there’s also a Lloyd Grist who’s listed as playing soccer for Holy Names University. In addition to that he’s apparently scored a goal for the U18 academy:

Joey Melo scares the shit out of me whenever he plays. Probably why hes not playing.

Monsalve is better than Edwards anyways, or at least will be.

Well maybe I've got the wrong lloyd grist. Seeing as he's not under 18. Unless its possible that he played a game with the Academy without actually being a part of the academy.

he doesn't have to be under 18 to play on the academy team right? the players on the team generally are all under 18, but the league itself includes men, so he could have guested for a game with them. I think it's probably the same dude... the chances of two Lloyd Grists playing soccer in one organization are pretty slim..

I just creeped all over his facebook page, and, besides having a gorgeous girlfriend, he was definitely the guy playing at Holy Names University for the Hawks (pic of him holding some award). He also has pics of himself as a kid in toronto, so I suspect he has some family connections here.

He turns 24 in November, so he really isn't a prospect and doesn't have any pedigree from what I can see in his background.

His Facebook status also says he's back from New York so it's clearly him.

Lloyd, is that you? ;)

sorry to hear your relationship with your hot girlfriend is "complicated" according to facebook! ;)

I still can't believe as we near 2009, people have public facebook profiles -- open to anyone -- where they say all this stuff. it always amuses me.

Hee hee.

Carver played at Cardiff, so he probably has some Welsh league connections; or am I misunderstanding the thread of this -- is the kid who played at Holy whateverwhatever also the kid who played in the welsh league and started at the Cardiff youth program?

Somewhat off topic, but I like the idea of dropping the 'development' part of the roster and just make the whole 28 man roster, you know, the whole roster. That way you don't have to worry about separate contracts and roster spots and all that crap.

All the teams have Academies now, and those are what now do the job of what the Dev. Roster was intended for, so to further simplify things in MLS I think this is the way they need to go.

I would like to see changes to the MLS roster rules, but I don’t think getting rid of the Dev. roster is feasible right now. On the surface the academies and the dev. roster serve the same purpose - namely the development of young(er) players. The problem is that MLS teams rely on some of their development players to be contributors to the team throughout the season. Academy players cannot play same roll as they are prohibited from playing with the senior team.

The only way you get rid of the Dev. roster in favour of the academies is by making the academies professional (or at least their upper tiers). The MLS appears to be in no hurry to do that as it would jeopardize their draft.
