EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.–Last night was supposed to be the funeral for Toronto FC's season.
Wallowing in last place in Major League Soccer, Toronto essentially was a loss away from seeing its faint playoff hopes dashed.
But that was before Marvell Wynne's speed and Chad Barrett's timely finishing gave Toronto its first win in seven matches and breathed some life into the club's slim playoff chances.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — There is still hope for Toronto FC. A 3-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls Saturday night kept the Reds' faint Major League Soccer playoff hopes flickering for at least another week.
In gaining the victory over a team that entered the match seven points ahead of them in the standing — to lapse into hockey vernacular, this one was a six-pointer — Toronto had two goals from Chad Barrett and another from 17-year-old Abdus Ibrahim, a late-game substitute for Barrett.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Red Bulls have slumped at the worst possible time.

After Chad Barrett scored two goals to lift Toronto FC to a 3-1 victory over the Red Bulls on Saturday night, New York coach Juan Carlos Osorio believed that maybe the pressure of trying to make the playoffs is getting to his team.

"We're panicking too much," Osorio said after the Red Bulls lost their second straight home game against a sub-.500 team.

E. RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A few weeks ago, it looked like Toronto FC's playoff hopes were dead and buried. If we win at Dallas, Chicago may not field its best XI at BMO since they will be in the playoffs already. Then it could come down to the final game at San Jose.

Jesus fucking Christ BMO will erupt!!! i can't wait!!

I really don't want to start thinking like that yet.
I'm trying to keep my mind in the present... but it is difficult to avoid dreaming about what could be.
But there are two crucial road games to get through first (and we will be missing are key lineup for international duty)

If we did end up having a playoff chance in the last game... oh my... it will be one hell of a good atmosphere!

I dunno if this has been posted before, but looks like York got penalized for letting Lombardo play, as he is ineligible for some time.

Even if the results go our way again we might need only a point but 3 in dallas would be heaven!!
