Our DP? I heard its going to be Ronaldinho, and our second one will be Henry, and I also heard we are going to get Zidane out of retirement and he will sign for 300K.

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/05/21/toronto-track-united-star-ameobi-72703-20941549/

SHOLA AMEOBI was today the subject of an ambitious move from MLS side Toronto FC, who would love to sign the former England Under-21 striker.
The BMO Field outfit would join Norwich City and Middlesbrough as teams tracking Ameobi, after the player indicated he did not want to go to Stoke.
Former Newcastle coach John Carver is in charge at Toronto, and is keen to bring Ameobi to join him and another ex-United star, Laurent Robert.
And while many may think a move to Canada is too premature, Carver insists a deal would instantly elevate Ameobi from a player out in the cold to a terrace idol in Toronto.
Carver – who saw Ameobi grow up and go on to star in the Champions League during his successful stint on Tyneside – told me from Toronto: “I need some firepower up front and I am looking for new players, especially a striker.
“I’ve got my side organised now and have made Toronto difficult to beat, but I need to sign players in that area.
“Shola is a kid I brought through the system at Newcastle United, and a kid I know an awful lot about.
“If I can get Shola into this football club he would be a huge, huge asset for us.”
Former Sunderland stars Danny Dichio and Carl Robinson are huge stars in Canada these days, as well as Ameobi’s former team-mate Robert.
And another former United man, highly-rated strength and conditioning coach Paul Winsper, acted as a personal fitness guru to David Beckham in the last 12 months, and is also at Toronto.
Robert has impressed since arriving in Canada, and Carver says he is an example to follow.
Carver added: “It’s not about what players have to prove, it’s about the fact they have so much to play for and offer.
“Newcastle fans know what Robert’s ability is about.
“From what I have seen in the short space of time he has been here, he has some desire back.
“He has had a couple of wayward years and he actually seems to want to prove a point.
“He’s not here on holiday, he’s working hard and he’s a great professional.”
TFC fans have huge banners of their Premier League stars dotted around their BMO Field home, and Ameobi could also expect a rapturous welcome.
Carver, who has also been a huge hit in MLS so far, added: “The fans here are so similar to the Newcastle fans. They love the game and they are passionate.
“They are similar to myself and are the reason I came here.”

As good as the signing would be (and it would be good)... the other thing i took from this article is how much i love JC. He didn't need to pander to us in an english paper... but he did, and i love it!

I am sure they are both doing it. I think the set up is working quite well so far. Mo knows the MLS, Carver knows everyone in England, and now with Dasovitch TFC has the Canadian scene covered. I don't have a problem with Carver opening the door for a few players.

We know Mo got Guevarra, and apparently was the first contact with Ricketts agent(according to Bruva), and Carver got in contact with Robert and then Mo got the contracts done. Who knows how many other players have been approached.

Considering TFC now has argueably one of the best all round midfields in the MLS this set up has worked. If we can get a great striker (for the MLS), who cares who opens up the discussions as long as we get him. I truly believe that with a great forward, TFC will be serious contenders.

but really...how often would Mo actually tell guys on the team that he is pursuing/interested/had a dream about certain players...why get the teams hopes up, cause anxiety etc when the deal may not even happen?

Now if this Big Bruvah guy was a scout for TFC or a player agent with ties to alot of players or Mo Jonhnston, then that'd be different..

Basically its all hearsay but the dude has been honest and correct with everything he has said in the past and as a result we have no reason to doubt him. Im sure not everything is mentioned on the team but word does get out, as a result he would be a good source.

Well if you want to rub his balls, just ask him. But honestly, he's played this along to the point of selling t-shirts and making himself some money too and guys are swallowing it whole... What was the guy last year? He was a player's brother or something? He gave good information and never tried to string us along or make money off of us.

He hasn't told us anything we didn't already know...Mo said he was pursuing a DP calibre striker...even if we didn't know Ricketts was on trial he's his cousin so that's not really a lot of info. He hasn't told us anything else except the prices of his t-shirts.
