Dichio likely to start for TFC

LARRY MILLSON

Toronto FC forward Danny Dichio is expected to be in the starting lineup today against defending Major League Soccer champion Houston Dynamo.
But another forward, Carlos Ruiz, is expected to miss the game with a knee injury. Ruiz had a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Tuesday. TFC head coach John Carver said the results showed nothing serious but he won't play Ruiz until the knee is 100 per cent.
Dichio has been used mostly as a substitute since his return from a concussion suffered in a game on July 1.
Carver is suspended for today's game because of his ejection from last week's 2-0 loss at the Kansas City Wizards.

Houston's problems pale in comparison to TFC's
By DEAN MCNULTY (dean.mcnulty@sunmedia.ca), SUN MEDIA

Toronto FC is facing a Houston Dynamo team today at BMO Field that has just embarked on a tortuous final month of the Major League Soccer season having to play 11 matches in the next five weeks.
But don't expect TFC coach John Carver -- who won't be on the sidelines because of a suspension -- to have any sympathy as he has been without a full squad for almost two months due to injury and international call-ups.
Carver also knows that Houston -- looking to nail down their third consecutive MLS crown -- has one of the deepest rosters in the league.

Reds looking for offensive answers
Toronto must reverse recent attack woes to make playoff push

TORONTO -- Toronto FC's season-long scoring problems arguably reached their nadir last Saturday in Kansas City. The Reds have struggled to convert their chances, but against the Wizards, it was just the creation of these chances that proved to be difficult. TFC went without a shot on goal for just the second time in club history as they dropped a 2-0 defeat to K.C., and were outshot 14-3 overall by the Wizards. It was a troubling performance for the Reds, especially in a game that carried such importance to their playoff chances -- and one that provides an easy focal point for the must-win contest against the Houston Dynamo at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon.

I thought I read that Carver, after review by MLS brass, was going to be allowed on the bench today?

Yeah, here's the article (http://www.torontosun.com/sports/soccer/2008/09/25/6871001-sun.html).

Wierd... its DEAN MCNULTY who wrote the first article that said he wasn't suspended, and he also wrote the article above that says he is suspended. I must be out of the loop or something.

MisterMacphisto, read it again, it says he will be in the Coach's box. Not the Technical Area. The Coach's box is up by Nigel and Jason.

Fat lot of good that does us... I think everyone knew already that a suspension doesn't mean you're not allowed to be in the building.

Tomorrow's SSG is substantially cuter.
