Ruiz highlights Reds in qualifiers
Seven Toronto FC players part of World Cup competitions
TORONTO -- Carlos Ruiz's game-winning brace for Guatemala against Cuba was the highlight among seven Toronto FC players capped by their countries in FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday. Guatemala played host to Cuba at Guatemala City and was down 1-0 to the visitors before Ruiz equalized in the 37th minute. The striker scored again in the 54th minute to give Guatemala a lead it would not relinquish in what ultimately finished as a comfortable 4-1 win. Ruiz, Guatemala's all-time leading scorer, now has 41 all-time international goals and six goals in this World Cup qualifying season after scoring four times in a 6-0 win against St. Lucia on June 14.
