A chance to check out the competition, if like me, you are unfamiliar with their players style of play etc.

Some of the french CBC channels are carrying the game (channel 16 on rogers for example)

I am pretty sure that the game is in HD on rogers, but not 100% sure.
French CBC had all of their home Impact games in HD, and if this is the opening of Saputo then even more reason.

I heard MLS commissioner is going to be at the game.

Tis true.

Joey Saputo and George Gillet have already sent a letter of intent to MLS saying they want into the league next year. Whether it could be done that quickly or not is up for speculation, but this is where Garber is probably going to make up his mind about it.

Hopefully the Montreal fans put on a great show to convince him it's doable for next year.

Nice keep an eye on my boy Simon Gatti for the impact, he went from being on their bench to a startin central mid or central D role, I think they move him around. I grew up playing with this kid, it was treat to be on the end of some of those passes.

No kidding. Hate, hate, hate to admit it, but I'm jealous. And it'll only look better if they can keep it full, then make it bigger and even better.

My derision for Montreal sports fans aside, it bodes well for the sport in this country.

Considering the playing conditions, that was actually a decent half of football. Given last week's upset 2-1 victory over the Galaxy and today's performance thus far, I think Vancouver will definitely will pose the toughest challenge for TFC in the Canada Cup tournament...

I only heard a bit but from what I could pick up Saputo talked about possible MLS expansion, being able to expand the stadium, the Canada Cup tourney, their academy (picked up a few age groups so that's my guess) and how the winner of the Canada Cup will represent Canada at the CONCACAF Champions League. Other dude is Gillette. He didn't say anything atleast while I saw. Maybe he doesn't speak French?

true.. I'm not sure what to make of that. i wonder if a lot of tickets were given to people or whatever, and so they aren't big fans and just went home??? cuz i don't understand where everyone went. i mean usually the opening of any stadium sees massive crowds rain or shine.

The Montreal Impact (2-4-0; 6 points) is playing its historical home opener at Saputo Stadium, Monday, against the Vancouver Whitecaps (3-1-0; 9 points) at 3 pm (Radio-Canada, CKAC Sports, TEAM 990, USLlive.com).

It is the 15th home opener in club history. Since its inaugural season in 1993, the Impact has a record of 10-1-3 in home openers (23 GF - 6 GA).

The two teams faced each other April 12, in Vancouver, when the Impact was playing its first game of the season. The Impact was shut out 1-0 at Swangard Stadium.
"I'm really excited to be part of this historic moment, which is very special for everyone in the club," said defender Adam Braz. "It's a huge game for us and this is a chance to put the beginning of the season behind us. We also want to beat the Whitecaps because I don't think we deserved to lose the first game against them. It's time to get one back on them with a win."

The Impact are hoping to get a lift from the crowd as it christens its new digs today. The team announced Saturday that all 13,034 tickets for today's game have been sold.
