I'm all for grass instead of FieldTurf,

but seeing this pitch in Montreal on tv, makes me think again a lil

looks horrible

still better than Rice Eccles or anyother bastardized stadium though

there is no argument against grass.

actually nevermind...

fieldtuf leaves door open for argos, and i'd rather have a torn up grass pitch that a field turf pitch with lines...

our pitch will be mint.

if a pitch was interlaced with mint that would be quite a nice thing when you slide-tackled. minty thighs.

the field looks like they had a pga tour event there before the soccer. that's a lot of divots!

A well-maintained grass turf will hardly ever give you problems. Of course, if a club isn't committed to keeping it in tip-top shape, than you're gonna have problems.

I think BBtB made a good argument a while back saying that almost anyone would perfer well-maintained artificial turf over a poorly-maintained grass pitch.

looks arent important. what matters is impact for players joints and bones.

result: injuries and refusal to play here

ROFLMAO

I wouldn't laugh actually. A field that had a good bed of clover or something in it (not mint, but same idea) might be more resistant to the kind of stuff we're seeing at Saputo and be easier to maintain....

^ I think FIFA and a lot of the larger leagues had played around with using different sorts of grasses and other plants for the pitch. Now though, I think Bermuda Grass is the norm for the most part, but apparently studies have shown playing on Rye Grass has led to a decrease in ACL injuries.

In the Champions League game in Montreal 10 days ago, one Impact player tripped over a hole in the turf, and had to be subbed out.

Not sure when they are going to upgrade their crappy grass pitch to turf.

With any luck one of the complaining national team players will trip in a pothole, and break some bones. That will put an end to their anti-BMO Field bitching.

Let me get this straight:

The CMNT doesn't like the FieldTurf in Toronto.
They don't like the grass in Montreal

What DO they like?

Has the CMNT complained about the grass in Montreal yet?

grass rules! we need a crotchety old english guy with an 'andy capp' hat and a grizzled beard to make sure its properly maintained... or those tile things that you can drop in and out if parts of the field get fucked up - then you nurse them back to health and rotate them...

Man, you gotta ask for way more than that or they won't respect you. Tell them you're a "pitch consultant" and ask for half a mil a year.

You'll need the Andy Capp hat, though, for sure.
