Do you ever think there will come a time when RPB's and other supporter groups will want to ban together to buy TFC (similar to what's happening with Liverpool www.shareliverpoolfc.co.uk and other clubs?).

If so, how much would you be willing to pay to buy in?

Um no.
It's worth waaay too much and MLSE and the teachers wouldn't like losing their cash cow.

will never happen.

you need businees people to run a business. TFC is a businees that is making big $$$$$ for MLSE.

Supporters would make decisions with their hearts, not with their brains and that won't work.

Current value of an MLS franchise = $50 million
Number of supporters 3,000.
Let's be generous, and say that 2/3 of those have both the money and the will to buy in (not likely):

$50 million divided by 2,000 = $25,000 each.

Now I'm not speaking for anyone else, but I can't see myself putting in that kind of money. Let's say only 200 have a lot of money to put into this. Then we're looking at a quarter of a million each!

The big difference with a club like Liverpool is that they have a global following. Interest in TFC would be only local.

this board almost collapses on itself everyday with the amount of childish bitchery that goes on. what could possibly make one think that something like that could work even if the cash was there?

Reality! Some people just don't get it.

It's not unheard of for fan clubs to be richer than the clubs they support. I've heard of clubs nearly going bankrupt, only to have the support clubs sign over their licensing rights and marketing profits to keep the club afloat. If the club can get a single united fan club and market the hell out of it, it could be possible to buy out the club, should they ever fall on hard times.

oh relax people... it's no different than the ridiculous, hypothetical conversations we have over drinks.

RPB owning TFC would be a disaster. We would fired our team after every game, and the coach, if reading these boards is any indicated of the type of management skills we have here :p

A more realistic idea is the team going public and selling shares.

We will add $1.00 to our membership fee each year. That way we will be ready to make an offer in the year 2630!

How much money did we make from donations at the tailgates? Is that enough to buy TFC?

ok... how about armed robbery? ;)
