Team sponsor amount
LA Galaxy herbalife 4-5 million a year
Seattle Sounders Xbox 360 20 million over 5 years
DC United Volkswagon 14 million/5 years\
Chicago Fire Best buy 7.5 million/3 years
Chivas USA Comex 2 million per year
Houston Dynamo Amigo Energy 1.9 million/season
Toronto FC BM0 1 mill-1.5 mill/season
RSL XanGo 500,000-1 mill/season
NYRB red bull ?
New England Rev ? ?
Colorado Rapids ? ?
San Jose Earthquakes none none
Kansas City Wizards ? ?
Columbus Crew Gliddon paints ?

Looking at TFC's deal, not one of the best but hardly the worse but close,
TFC need to look at bringing in a new jersey sponsor with at least DC Utd numbers, which could lead to a DP or two, possible grass pitch and with luck a price freeze on season tickets for a year or two!!!

Where did you get these numbers from?
I think BMO is locked into being our sponsor for 10 years or something aren't they. I would think they get a discounted price because of all the $$ they put up for the stadium naming rights, but I don't know.

wikpedia...under Major league soccer, it has Seattle so it must be current for the team they mentioned.

the wikipedia number is not sourced.
if you click on the link for its "source" you just get the press release where BMO was announced as the jersey sponsor, but there's no listed amount there.

a quick glance suggests some of the other numbers are not properly sourced either.
Generally that's not surprising since the details are rarely reported on these deals.

Toronto was one of the first teams to have a shirt sponsor were they not?

I think the numbers reflect that.

I thought the deal with BMO was in the nighbourhood of $27 million for 5 years for both the stadium naming rights and jersey sponsorship. Can't find a source for this so my memory may be wrong. They also bought braodcast naming rights to all 30 games this year. I'm pretty sure we are pulling in good money from them.

I think they have history and honesty on their side.
If it were a young company that didn't communicate well with the public then they would be screwed.
But Maple Leaf will live on... though hurting for a while... kinda like the Maple Leafs!

But the over priced tickets and constant sellouts can't be used for that?
If TFC were struggling to draw you may have an argument for the sponsor.

Yup, takes balls and a little bit of wisdom to come out and say it's not the inspection agencies fault (which is odd, because clearly it IS their fault for not catching this) but their own.

Since TFC has the possibility of adding a qualifier for the Concacaf champions league and there is such high demand for the TFC sponsorship - maybe they should increase the sponsorship fee by 10%.

I wonder if BMO would react the same way some people here did "oh yeah, look at DC's sponsorship - 1.5m for us is a steal, I'd gladly pay another 10%

Whatever BMO paid...they got a bargain and you can be guaranteed that when the deal expires they will need to pay 5 to 6 times that amount. We should be thankful to BMO for jumping in as the first sponsor, but on the business end it was a great move. Next one will be $$$$$$$ and BMO might opt out.

Beer companies aren't allowed to be sponsers for MLS teams, same goes for tabacco companies and other industries.

No to Carlsberg. Just because it's so fucking shit.

Anyway, I am never buying a TFC jersey with a sponsor, if they refuse to release a supporters jersey then I will just stick with my jersey I got in December 2006.

I have to say, I'm surprised that the NE Revs don't have a sponsor yet. You'd think that a team that does as well as they do year in, year out would be able to find a sponsor fairly quickly...I think Dunkin' Donuts would be a good sponsor for them for some reason.

How about having multi sponsored kit:
http://www.footballshirtculture.com/200807201696/08/09-kits/ogc-nice-08-09-home-and-away-lotto-kits.html

http://www.footballshirtculture.com/200807201697/08/09-kits/uanl-tigres-08-09-home-and-away-adidas-kits.html

http://www.footballshirtculture.com/200807171685/08/09-kits/palmeiras-08-09-home-adidas-kit-launched.html

I know alot of people are against this but if it pays the bills and gets more money into TFC I would be okay with it. Plus, there are ways of having multi sponsors and keeping the kits decent like UANL has done.

whats taking teams like New England, San Jose, Colorado, Kansas, and dallas so long to get sponsors??? Do they even want sponsors. Since most of these teams dont get that good attendence for matches you think they could really do with the extra cash coming in.
