I know it's not strictly TFC related, but I thought everyone would want to know. PLease feel free to move if you feel it necessary. The match is on Setanta this Sunday at 7:30am.

Good luck Mo!

Rangers debut for American Edu in Glasgow derby

5 hours, 37 minutes ago

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP)—U.S. midfielder Maurice Edu is set to make his Glasgow Rangers debut in Sunday’s Old Firm derby against Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
The 22-year-old Edu completed his $5 million transfer from Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC last week after being granted a British work permit. Edu is expected to arrive in Scotland by Thursday once visa formalities have been completed at the British Embassy in Toronto.
Rangers manger Walter Smith is eager to deploy him against Celtic. The Glasgow rivals are tied at seven points atop the SPL after three games.
“If we can get him over in good time then I have no doubt that he would be involved on Sunday at some stage,” Smith said.

Smith is pleased that Edu, who signed a five-year contract, has added to his international experience during August at the Beijing Olympics and in a World Cup qualifier at Guatemala.
“The good thing is that he has been playing regularly and traveling around the world regularly with the U.S. national team,” Smith said. “When I first met him, he came across as one of these boys who would not be fazed by a great deal. He seems quite a confident lad.”

Jeez, all I can say is Edu must have done a hell of a job internationally with the States, because I still don't see how a top flight team like Rangers can rate his play...

Remember that missed defensive header in the Vancouver game? Imagine that in the Old Firm match?? He'd be run out of town lol

This will be on Setanta Premium, not the Setanta channel we get at home. If you want to watch it, you'll have to go to a pub that has paid the insane fees to carry Celtic matches.

The "poor boy" lol...great line.

I do not think he knows any better which is good...if he knew he would be rocking himself in a corner right now.

But in all seriousness, if he plays his position, and does not make any mistakes defensively, he will survive that first game. Step by step :-)

McVeighs downtown should have it, or the Celtic club in Bramalee.

www.narsa.ca (http://www.narsa.ca) if you plan on cheering edu....;) if not, mcvitties or any of the other jungle clubs will have it....;) i would suggest he doesn't wear tighty whitey's.....and if he does he better have an extra pair or two....no matter how much beasley or reyna have tried to educate edu on the nuances of an "old firm" match the lad will be gobsmacked from the moment he gets off the team bus....

oh shit....

I made a bet that he would NEVER actually play for them. I figured he'd get loaned out for the first seasons or two, then get shopped around.

If you're reading this bud.... I haven't lost the bet yet!
