Haven't really seen a full fledged discussion about Rosenlund's attributes, but I think that yesterday was his best game by far. With each game that he gets into, the nerves seem to be disappearing and his authority with the ball (i.e. cutting passes, smart chips, positional play) is improving dramatically from what I notice.

He played a really creative through ball for Ricketts to put him through on goal,...he combined really well with Amado Guevara on a couple of neat 1-2s, and he owned his part of the field and seem to communicate well with Robbo.

I sincerely hope that Carver continues playing him, because I think he is a really intelligent midfielder, and the best compliment to Carl Robinson that I have seen so far.

On top of all this, he is Canadian so his development will be key for the CMNT.

Not to get too far ahead of myself, but I think Tyler Rosenlund could be the first true top level CMNT player that TFC produces....which would be great.

Also would like to see more of Hemming, Gala and Attakora, as I feel they all have strong futures, but that's for another thread.

agreed, needs to be starting above Harmse imo, hes defo looking good now that hes not as nervous on the ball (as he was in some of his early games)

Good post, i agree. I really thought he played a big part in the result yesterday. Harmse was trying very hard out there but he wasn't doing anything at all. I love effort but wasn't happy with Harmse at all. Once Rosenlund came on it seemed to me that he really played the open spaces in the midfield well and solidified the formation. Once he came on I thought the whole team played better, not to mention played the rest of the game 1-0 up. Good change by Carver and a good game by Rosenlund

Funny this came up.

My opinion of him is that he's very good technically but he doesn't have a lot of speed or strength.

However, if he continues to improve even more technically those won't even matter. He has great passing range and seems to read the game well.

Come on. Harmse had the best performance he's had yet in a TFC uniform. He was composed, made passes and was in position. In the second half we needed a goal and Harmse was starting to drop so Rosenlund was brought on. Give the guy some credit.

Rosenlund I think could develop into a TFC starter. I don't know if he is CMNT material but he could probably be a sub once in a while for them in a couple years.

\I've been saying this for months now...

people keep saying "we need to see more of him...need to see more before making up my mind"....

...hellz no, we dont need to see more to "make up our minds"... We already know he's better
the reason we bitch is because we never get the oppurtunity to see that more....

It's that bloody viscious circle we had with Mo and now with Carver....

Want to know who else we need to see more of:

Attakora....

He's our 2nd best defender (better than James + Velez) yet we wont be seeing much of him again :taz:

Correction, Harmse had the best first half he's ever had in a TFC uniform, but possibly the worst second half he's ever had. Not to knock him, as overall his game was ok, but to be honest, everytime he had a touch in the second half we might as well have given it to the revs directly, since that's what he did with it.

Harmes my eyes.. is all I can say about that guy.. he wont be here next year unless robinson leaves..

Roselund changed the game for us.. hope he gets the start over Harmse..

then we have a starting 11 we can work with...

I didn't see this. I'll definitely give him credit for effort. He was trying incredibly hard and had a ton of heart but I was unimpressed with the passing and finishing. What good is being in space if the finish is off the vast majority of the time. I thought he tried but didn't make the grade. Rosenlund made use of his space and made good passes in the middle, something I didn't see Harmse do.

I thought Rosenlund's introduction changed the game. We didn't have enough intelligent midfield movement until he came in and started making supporting runs all over the place.

He was really quite good. Beat several guys on the dribble, started a few plays, didn't cough it up stupidly. He looked really solid.

I was pleasantly surprised by Rosenlund on Saturday, but what's up with Hemming?

I would have thought he would be the natural CM in that situation.

I guess Rosenlund is winning the "Battle of the Tylers" in practice.

Isn't he hurt? I'm pretty sure he is, otherwise he would have been on the bench I think.

This I agree with but that doesn't say much. He was doing a great job at his usual fortes: giving the ball away, missing sitters in the 6 yrd box and barely getting away with brash tackles without getting carded. His best play was a dummy on a pass.Maybe there were 2 Harmses on the field. The other was performing as you said.

He wasn't as shocking as he normally is....so I guess this equates to having a good game in some people's minds.

One thing I will never ever ever understand (MLS expansion draft rules aside)....why did we effectively replace Chris Pozniak...a smart tidy midfielder...with Kevin Harmse...a clumsy player with no instinct and less quality in most areas.

At the beginning of the season I thought Harmse could be our hard man...but he's not really even doing that. Plus playing Harmse and Robinson in the midfield together = no midfield cohesion.

Ergo, Rosenlund should be getting more opportunity. Harmse should be cover for Robbo, not cover for the vacuous black hole of creativy that is the middle of the park at BMO Field.

Not to rain on your parade but this is exactly what you guys were saying about Jarrod Smith and now people want to run him out of town because he's not living up to the unrealistic expectations we have for him.
I think Rosenlund has the potential to be a starter as do Ibee, Hemming, Smith, Gala, Nana and maybe Gaudet, and Melo; but let's let them develop at their own pace.
Also I don't think Rosenlund will be the first top level CMNT starter produced by TFC that is a little ridiculous as he's already something like 23 and he's only a sub in the MLS. I think Nana (19) is the best of the teenagers we have (Melo 19, Gaudet 19, Elkinson 18, Gala 19, Ibee 17) and he's the captain of the U-20 squad an honour previously belonging to a spot-starter in the Premiership (David Edgar). He will be the best Canadian TFC has ever produced.

Fair enough....but I never saw Jarrod Smith knife a pass or construct a play like Tyler Rosenlund has shown me he can.

I've seen him fly down the wing run at defenders and create down the wing but that is easier to do than construct plays up the middle

TR played great.. noticed the difference right away when he came in..

If Harmse (who did have a rather good game by his standards) could be more effective in running the opposition ragged, and tiring them out.. and then have the creative Rosenlund come on, we might be on to something...
