Wow, lots of foreign players on the list. Seems like European players (or at least English players) must be getting turned onto the idea of NCAA scholarships.

Hey Professor, can you organize those players into those conferences that produce "mls" ready players? I mean, looking at some of these school names, some of these guys will never be heard from again going into the draft.

awright Gus, but I dunno

and thanks - but plz keep info to gmail ;)

here goes....
Cody Arnoux (if OW doesn't repeat, it might be because of this kid; also an early Gen A prospect)
Jovan Bubonja (if a Gkpr wins the Hermann, here he is; another Gen A candidate)
Sam Cronin
Kyle Patterson
Chris Pontius
Eric Sweetin
Marcus Tracy (MT will make it a tight selection)
O'Brian White (early favourite, UConn recruits so well)

Others not even on this list will be on the final list of 15

Steve Zakuani is probably another early Gen A candidate, rather than a Hermann prospect

A list of 15 semifinalists will be selected by a coaches committee in November, with three finalists announced in early December. They will then be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo., for a news conference on Jan. 9, 2009, where the winner will be announced.

I'll see what I can do to narrow the list down, maybe add colour codes

Who was the kid from the Quinnipiac & Harvard games?
Is he on the list?

hey RH

yes he is = Yan Klukowski, Central Connecticut, nice call,
I was going to add him in today
but don't get me started on that... I'm not going there

However, he's a perfect example of why MLS needs "Central Scouting"
Why he wasn't a Gen A target last year is beyond me - criminal
and I know the Revs are watching him, closely....
barring injury, he's combine material

the only drawback is he just might pull an Andy Wright (West Virginia) and go back to England when he graduates

YK is a better player. And from what I've heard, he won't sign with MLS for development wages
he has the options and it was his involvement in the Home Nations
and Schoolboy set-ups that kept him from furthering his involvement with
Bristol and Reading

He just keeps getting better and better. For a few, the NCAA is an excellent environment to improve and develop as a player - he's already an "above average" NCAA player. This season he should be part of that 1%.

from a TFC angle - bigger than Phelan, better ball skills than Phelan, better decision maker than Phelan. Not as physical as Phelan but does get stuck in.

btw,
White didn't "debut" on Hermann's list until the November release, and
neither did Lapira the year before, so don't be thinking that this year's winner is a lock or an obvious choice

A lot of the Brit coaches are getting players that don't cut it to earn professional contracts to get into schools here in the States. For example: Portsmouth was working with one of Queen City FC's asst coaches to get their players over here, and a lot of other coaches I know have contacts with the clubs there to bring players over. I know our former QCFC coach was coaching at W.Va and Curbishley was talking with him a few years back to get players over here. That would be why you see a lot of brits.
