To the acclaim as the Kilian Elkinson signing, it looks like Derek Gaudet has won a development roster spot with TFC.

Its good to see a fellow Nova Scotian be apart of the club and to look to players outside of Ontario for developmental spots.

On a side note, this would be Derek's second, I believe, trial with the club as he was not sufficient to requirements during the open tryouts with TFC. This makes me question the ability of those tryouts to identify talent properly.

Well, that was twenty-one months ago, and they are absolutely desperate for bodies... good luck to him.

Nothing spectacular but good to see an attempt to develop Canadian talent. I hope this isn't what Mo wanted to do with the Cunningham roster spot.

Looks like Gaudet just replaced Lombardo.

The open tryouts were a pure PR exercise. There were plenty of good players who tried out and some are now part of the organization (i.e. Melo and now Gaudet) but I don't believe they took these tryouts as seriously as some of the players did. I know people who were involved in player evaluation at the tryouts who were less than impressed with the attitudes of Mo and the gang. Water under the bridge now but I hope we've seen the last of these tryouts.

As for Gaudet, I think he's a good talent and I'm glad he's involved in a professional situation where he can train full time. Expect to see his name on the score sheet for the Reserves on a semi regular basis. he's got a good nose for the goal.

^ that's not him at all actually. Some half-wit doing the MLS website must have outsmarted themselves into putting up that video.

If he's been that technically good, I wonder how long it'll be before he gets first team time.

Saw him at the Open Practice. The Billyfly likes....

Showed passing ability and quickness even if he is a bit petit.

Forgot to add he reminded me a lot of Sporting's Joao Moutinho (size and skill).
