View Full Version : If You Had to Bring One Back

TFC USA

TFC has seen players come and go, some should have stayed, some should have been launched into space.

If you have to bring one player back from last year's team (and is no longer with the team) to help TFC in this slump, who would it be and why?

I would bring back Ronnie O'Brien, when healthy, he was efficient, and even though he complains about the turf like a baby, it's a step above Robert.

Oh my goodness, yes. So crap in his time here, I didn't think I'd ever be saying it. Pretty sad that as hopeless as our team was at the start of last season, we could really use bringing a player or two back.

Why not Miguel Canizalez? I think he would've been a decent player for TFC if given the time.

EDIT: That was the guy in place of Colin Samuel? Yikes.

Well, at least Samuel can say he's scored the only penalty in TFC history.

As for Miguel, he's playing 4th division football in Germany...

Defo not Buddle, hes shit and on a lucky streak with the help of Secksy Becksy, otherwise he'd be shit. I can assure youd he'd be no diff here.
Dude was crap on every other team that he played (sauve Columbus, but even then Cunny played well there as well...). I dont think hes going to be consistant at all.

To be honest id bring back noone.

Maybe Abbe Ibrahim just to see what he was capable of as we never saw it but id almost bet that id send him away afterwards.

Absolutely sweet fucking no one. Everyone's high on Buddle, and he'd be a definite improvement over Floppingham, but I don't think he's any more talented than Barrett, he just, as OMY points out, has Beckham serving them on a platter. Only a couple of his goals have been nice finishes from his own work.

Goldthwaite and Boyens = Poison to New York

Andy Welsh = Dropped at Blackpool

Ronnie O'Brien = Perma-injured, it seems.

Colin Samuel = Back at St. Johnstone, where he will doubltess continue to blow chunks. Or just be chunky.

Richard Mulrooney = Decent holder at Houston but nothing special; he's like Seth Stammler at New York: prone to the odd exceptional game but generally average.

Olivier Tebily = Whiny little quitting bitch whose wife leads him around by his dick. I guess.

Alecko Eskandarian = Couldn't score in a disco full of drug-ravaged prostitutes.

Andrea Lombardo = See Eskandarian, Alecko

Maycoll Canizales = Or whatever he's calling himself these days; moved too slow, thought too slow.

David Monsalve = League emergency goalkeeper who should be in our youth system.

Sam Reynolds - File under "whatever happened to..." . Was a good shot stopper and hard worker. Bit short.

Okay, so there's one, Monsalve. The rest of them aren't worth a bucket of bait, far as I'm concerned.

Pozniak, for sure.
With the small squads that get depleted over the season due to call-ups and injuries, a decent (though not outstanding) utility player is what every MLS squad needs.

Esky? Injured, and not a great goal rate.
Buddle? Even Amado couldn't serve up the passes that Beckham does.
O'Brien? The turf rules him out.
Serioux? Maybe, but doesn't really address our needs.
Everyone else? No-one outstanding. Happy to see most of them go.

I honestly can't believe that every single person is not saying Paulo Nagamura.

He anchors the Chivas midfield.....can do the job Carl Robinson does blindfolded, plus Nagamura can score....sure he only has 1 goal so far this year....but he definitely knows where the net is.

Cashcleaner

^ Fuck me! I never even considered Nagamura, but yeah - he's really put some good time in for Chivas. The only problem with him coming back is that the mid is more or less settled in nicely for Toronto.

I can defo see where youre coming from. Prob is the promise of a new midfield and therefore a new service, one that could provide for Cunny.
We got one, it provided, he didnt.
Regardless it was sad to see Poz leave.

I want Colin Samuel back.

Now wait... hear me out...

He was strong on the ball and had a nice shot, his major fall back was his speed (or lack there of). Unlike skill, phsyical fitness can be worked on at any age. I wouldn't put him in my starting XI but he would have made a great depth player when an offensive sub is needed.

Factor in that at $100k he costs the same as Marco Reda, Chris Pozniak and Todd Dunivant and you have a pretty good deal there.

rocker
08-11-2008, 11:51 AM
altho Samuel was making nearly 200K this season... his salary last year was pro-rated.
at 100K sammy would have been a good sub.. 200K I would debate it.....

MartinUtd
08-11-2008, 12:20 PM

Alternatively, for those of you who said Buddle, congrats, you've proven you can look at a goal-scoring table and mash your keyboard with your face until a semi-coherent post results.
