Starting a new thread for evaluating Dunfield as coach.

The differences from BB immediately apparent. Use of subs, more dynamic play, signs of actual strategy and the occasional practiced play.

He subbed out MAK for a better player.

Its going to take a few games to reset a few things but the lack of defensive responsibility by some of these players is striking - fixing that is going to be tough.

I won’t say much other than if the bar is “our permanent new coach” … doesn’t appear he’ll be the answer based on what we have seen so far.

That being said the best strategy is to keep TD as manager till we get better players
Then get a real manager

It'll be almost impossible to learn anything useful in 4 games

But at least the game today was fun, and he wasn't afraid to sub off a previous favourite.

But the reality is, we should be talking to people far more qualified than he is so likely this will just be a temporary solution whatever happens

Why is it specifically four games to judge, gage Terry? I mean when Armas was fired and Javier Perez was initially named the interim coach, only to have TFC formally remove the interim title a few games in, being named coach for the rest of the season. It was the first time I had seen this where the interim title was removed, only to see the hire let go at the end of the season as Javier was. I will be very curious to see how this plays out, guess it depends on who the Reds are interested in if they decide to go in a different direction other than Terry and if the said person actually wants the job. I just hope they do not rush into anything and they end up in the same place again.

Four games because that’s what Hernandez gives him certainly. They want to hire someone quickly but it won’t be before 4 matches.

If I was away in the bush for a week I would never have known there was any manager change.

If there’s an evaluation going on there’s a unique treasure trove (read also as: propaganda) on the YouTube channel because of the podcasts.

I personally never found him a remarkable speaker or mind, but it was a propaganda podcast so wrong place for that stuff anyway.

So far, by virtue of the evidence of one match (not very far at all)… I think we’ve got the anti-Bradley. It wasn’t really better to watch but totally different (except the goal given up remarkably in the way we normally give up stoppage time goals).

This!
Well, at least there is no point if Terry will be in charge for only 4 matches.
One needs at least 8-10 competitive matches to have a well founded opinion.

He should be kept until the end of this season, unless we lose all first 5-6 matches under him.
(Because that would not happen even under BB.)

4 games to prove yourself with this roster is just further evidence of front office incompetence. Why would you even state that is part of your process when you don’t have an MLS level keeper for those 4 games. I will be thrilled if Terry finds a way to get a win against Chicago as that is probably our last winnable game this year.

I think he made it 4 interim matches for Dunfield because Bill expects Vanney or Fraser to be available by then. Laziness & familiarity is his only way.

4 matches. So they have someone in the wings but can't do it yet?

Whatever.

I won't mind if Dunny gets to the end of season.

The new Manager shouldn't need half a season to get this squad executing. Whoever they get next will need results from the start of next season.

This season is about enjoying a few lovely plays and non match winning goals from players from better leagues.
