Not sure if this has been heard before on these boards, but a little bird tells me that the reason BMO field looks like it can be taken apart with a hex wrench in five minutes is because it was always meant to be temporary. Easily able to be torn down if it TFC tanked, or easily able to be torn down and replaced with a more permanent stadium, which will happen in the near future.

There is some truth in this...

The stadium was built with basically tin-can bleechers to allow for expansion...

The foundation for proper stands was poured and is in place in the South End and East side...

I personally think BMO would look great if the East side mimicked the West Side - but only if it remains SSS - I'm all for NO EXPANSION if that keeps the Argos out...

I think "to allow for expansion" is completely different then knock it down and start from scratch.

Absolutely... That's what I meant with "some" truth...

The foundation is poured, starting from scratch would be starting from a hole in the ground...

Who knows why these rumors, posts come up...

Yeah, I know the team won't flop, and I know BMO will always be there, just what it will look like is a different story

Exactly. I've posted this pic before, but I'll do it again. Here's what I think we should aim for.

The Tivoli Neu Stadion, in Innsbruck, Austria (one of the Euro 2008 sites):

It's exactly what BMO could look like when expanded, and it would keep the East Stand single tier to keep the view of downtown. Capacity is 30,000, which is perfect for TFC.

What do you guys think?

^ Its nice, i hate how bmo has the gaps between the stands, sorta makes the stadium look like a couple of big bleachers.

Since BMO uses the outer wall as support on the East and West stand, they could easily expand the south end to cover the concourse behind the seats. Add in a North end and were rolling.....

I think it was left for the possible expansion of the south stands....isnt the top of the south stands currently listed as level 200?

Since the supports already exist on the south end, it wouldn't be too hard to expand here.

Looks nice. If only we could fill in those corners.

there has already been MLSE meetings with regards to the 'expansion' of the stadium and installation of real grass.. they are looking to add an additional 5,000-7,000 seats in approximately 4 years..

this is as per a MLSE employee.. does anyone know any other MLSE employees that can confirm this??

anyway...we need grass before expanding the ground!!!!

If we want to lure quality players.....like hucks...and lose players like obrian....the turf has to be the #1 concern at the moment.....as a supporter of course.......

as we all know MLSE..#1 would be adding the seats ;)

I think you go to the stadium to watch a soccer game, not the view of downtown.

Those brick columns are not supports in the south end.

OK...We all agree that we need grass to get the better players. However, the idea that MLSE puts up $'s to build a new stadium when they have a packed one that can easily accomodate another few thousand is the stuff that only Exceptional GANJA can produce.
IT's a business folks, and as long as suckers like me exist who will not give up my seasons tickets (Which BTW are paid for well in advance of the season opener...) for any reason, and we all continue to drop real $ cheese on beer, food, etc., there is no way the stadium changes.

Worth remembering that's it's a business that does not supply the demand.

(i.e it's potential is much greater than it can achieve under it's current constraints.)

most businesses expand to accomodate heightened demand.

most.

You're not making sense. I don't think a brand new stadium is being proposed by anyone, rather expansion and/or remodeling of the existing.
This is all done of course within tried and true practices of MLSE which is to increase revenue.
