I cringe whenever our team steps up to take a PK. Having lost one MLS cup final & the Champions League finals on kicks, one has to wonder if we have anyone on this team that can be counted on when we get the chance. I wonder what our all time record is from the spot...because I swear it seems we miss half of them.

Practice practice practice. No excuse to lose 2 finals with horrible shooting and miss 50% of regular season pKS.

Aside from Vazquez.... I can't think what our top 5 would be?

Vazquez, Giovinco, Altidore and then..... Bradley clearly can't take pens so he's out

Gio will either go down the middle or 90% of the time bottom left. I don't think he is a natural PK taker

Going back to that MLS Cup loss to Seattle we made 15 & Missed 11 PK since that final giving us a 57% strike rate....In comparison in the history of the World Cup 71.5% of all spot kicks were converted

The PK takers that took more than 1 are;

Gio 3-3
Altidore 5-2
VV 3-1
Bradley 0-2

Do they practice ? Cause there's no way they can be this shit at penalties. Sebas shot was atrocious today not even near the corner. And way too predictable. Shoots same spot 3 games in a row.

Havent they learned that Vazquez should be taking it whenever he's on the field.

Anyone know his success rate?

Id put out the kids for PKs

At the stadium I don't get too excited when we get a PK until after we score it. When I see Giovinco stepping up these days I often think we don't even have a 50-50 chance of making the shot and that is usually the way it goes right now unfortunately. I don't think his confidence is there at all and it shows. Same with his free kicks. I am much more hopeful when I see Altidore or Vazquez step up. At this point though especially with our championship experience going to penalties a few times we should really be practicing the hell out of penalty kicks just in case.

Giovinco needs to get his PK mojo back.....

I’ve said this for his last 3 PK’s. Go down the middle like 3 times in row. Not ONCE has a keeper not moved for one his penalties. You will get in keepers head if you do that. Keepers know he’s going bottom left or bottom right. The only time he changed that was in the final (went top right).

the problem wasnt the intended placement, it was accuracy. true bottom right corner with pace, keeper is not saving that

If Giovinco takes another I'd like to see him go down the middle as well. It's where he went with a penalty vs. I believe Minnesota last year and scored easily, and that was the first one he scored after at least 2 or 3 misses in a row, which was his first penalty-taking slump since arriving here.

I just want to see Vanney create a hierarchy because I think that's the real issue. The player taking the pen needs to know that he's taking it from the off.

I don’t know what you guys saw when we got the penalty but I saw a lot of heads looking down. No one stepped up to take responsibility and wanted that penalty. Giovinco got it by default I think.

Given current injuries, past results & current form, I don't even know who I would have wanted to take the PK yesterday. Maybe Niko Hasler??

Hell let Bono take it. I'd be more confident in him getting in the other keeper's head. VV is my default when he is playing. Maybe Osorio after that?

I'd give Bono a chance over Giovinco at this point.

Actually Delgado took the best penalty in CCL final

When they called the penalty I literally said the very same thing to my wife.
