Concacaf'd.

If that had gone 10 mins more that ref would have put on a fucking Tigres uniform.

He was great in the first half but lost the plot entirely after the 50th minute.

That penalty was ball-to-body/hand against a guy turning his back to the play and with his arm to his body.

Doesn't matter. Better team went through.

Most wins or ties over the first 4 games of this tournament. We have 9 points (that damn penalty) - Club America has 7 going into tomorrow.

In essence, if we want home field advantage, we need Tauro to somehow tie or beat them in the Azteca. Doubtful.

I dont know how they decide who gets leg 1.

Just reading the CONCACAF rules, it says the "team that has the better record" in the quarter finals gets dibs on home field last in the next round, so I'm guessing they'll rule first by GA and Goals Scored, so unless, Tauro FC scores 4 goals in Panama, I expect Club America to add to there tally and have the 2nd leg in Mejico.

According to wiki: ‘Order of legs to be decided, with the semi-finalists in each tie which have the better performance in previous rounds hosting the second leg.’

Most likely it will be Club America hosting the second leg. They are up 4-0 going into the next game.

Wow! What an achievement. Well done TFC!!!

Im a little disappointed we didn’t win the match given the way the game went and how well we took the few chances that came our way, whilst defending so solidly for 80-odd minutes. However, there can be no doubt Mavinga being forced off took its toll in the last ten minutes, so I’ve no right to be disappointed. We’ve just witnessed a massive, masssive achievement by TFC, perhaps even the best victory in our history. In my opinion Tigres were not only Mexican champs, but the best side in the country, if not the region, over recent years. They truly are a first class side, with an attacking line up that would give any team problems. So to not only overcome them over two legs but look the better side doing it is a triumph we should treasure.

I really hope the injuries to Morrow and Mavinga are not serious. They are two very important players in our side and we could really struggle without them. However we have three weeks to get everyone fit again before the next chapter in this excellent adventure.

Onwards and upwards TFC!!!

Overall great game by TFC. Great coaching decision to go with the guys that won the first leg.
What I didn't get was why Vasquez was subbed on....he's a liability defensively when 100%. He was trotting on the field as if he played the whole game. Thought Hasler or even Aketxe would've been better to solidify the end of the game.

Why GV took off Mavinga baffles me he was having an excellent game. With Hagglund on we conceded two goals. I think the appropriate move wouldve been zav off for hagglund. Poor move on GVs part you could see the frustration in Mavingas face when he was taken off.

The first two goals were off poor individual defensive lapses. Osario had a great game, but he is the one who bends over allowing his man to head the ball in the back of the net, and Hagglund completely fucked up on the second.

The penalty was harsh, GVW, had tucked his hand behind him and the ball bounced behind him. That should not have been called.

Those two games last night constitute a paradigm shift. Not only in results but in respect. Admittedly, the respect won't be shown by every team from LigaMx but something changed.

The catalyst is Seba. He is the one the Tigres crowd booed. He is the one that LigaMx fans follow.

Seba changed MLS by coming here in his prime.

Seba changed the CCL in these two games.

I thought they also booed Bradley and Altidore, probably because of their involvement with the USMNT games vs Mexico.

After a little bit of sleep, I think I can forgive the referee for calling the penalty kick. He probably knew that there was no time for Tigres to get another goal and the victory would at least give the Tigres fans something to take away and allow the ref and other officials to get out of the stadium alive.

Too bad Morrow and Mavinga had to be taken off last night due to injury. I am sure that really screwed with Vanney's offensive plans later in the game. I really hope they are alright and Vazquez we need fully fit too. Rest those three and other players if needed this weekend. We can handle Monteal with our bench guys.

That's not neutral in anyway. It's not about throwing someone a bone.

He must have seen it as a clear cut hand ball, or perhaps he felt like by making that call would offset some other missed calls, or balance the calls in the game.

All and all I thought the ref was okay. There were numerous opportunities to call cheap penalties or soft fouls and he never really indulged.

Sure the penalty sucked but in the grande scheme of concacaf I can live with that imperfect performance. If I could get that every game i’d take it.

Considering what we have seen in terms of CONCACAF officiating over the years, the referee's performance was next to flawless.

Yeah, It looks like what they are doing is making us buy the Champions League semi-final tickets vs America and giving us the Canadian Championship semi-final likely vs Ottawa as our second game. This is not surprising as actually have to sell the Ottawa game would be much harder than one vs America. The Ottawa game last year only drew just over 15K.

Season Seat packages actually included of 20 games, 17 MLS games, one Champions League match and two additional matches that would be either Champions League or Canadian Championship. As of now we have received tickets to the Colorado and Tigres matches, so they owe us one match, which appears it will be the game against Ottawa in the VCup semi-final, thus making us buy the Club America match.

Painful removal (http://elporvenir.mx/pdfFile.php?id=14977)

He expressed his pain at the frightful
elimination and a frustrated Ricardo
Ferretti said in the end that it is always
painful to be eliminated.

After proclaiming that he preferred Liga MX
to the Concachampions, "El Tuca"
added that despite the fact that Tigres made
a good match, it did not reach them for more.

"It hurts to be eliminated, it's painful," said the cat strategist.

"But my teams made a very good match today,
but the elimination leaves us sad.
"But the truth is that I'm going quiet, because
the team did everything they had to do, so
I do not win but move on to the next round.

"The team played very well, but not always
the one who wins plays better and today
We were very superior and we gave a very
good performance and they only arrived two
or three times ", pointed out Ricardo Ferretti.

To finalize "Tica" fixed that yes there was illusion
to win the Concachampions.

"But hey, we're out again."

my spanish speaking friends i need help with translation or just the jist of what they're saying...i saw this link on youtube...sounds like they are having a pretty heated debate post match

Watched it last night, from what I recall the guy that's not in studio is the only one seriously giving TFC any credit and goes as far as saying that over 180 minutes we were the better team. The rest of the guys guys disagree, and some blame the Goalkeeper Guzman for allowing the free-kick goal. Also commenting on how Tigres choke in international competitions. The Vermes-looking guy on the left and the guy not in studio go at each other because he seems to be the most anti-MLS and last week after we won he said Tigres would surely win (which in a way he's not wrong, they just didn't advance :drum:)

Loving all this media coverage we're getting now. Back when we made the semis vs. Santos Laguna you'd have to wait 30 mins to see 3/8 goals on TSN. Now they're showing replays and analysis like 4x per hour. We've come a long way in 6 years.

My only speculation is that Ricketts may not be 100% fit yet. I know he was supposed to come in last game before Zavaleta's injury, but maybe he tweaked something during training.

Pure spec on my part but I'd say Hamilton was there to

Get experience going overseas that Ricketts has already
Spare Ricketts from the travel when he's likely starting on Saturday

• 1 CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) Match

That little "or" word carries some weight and let's them decide to give us which games they want I guess.

From their perspective its a very easy decision, make us buy the game they know we all want to attend and give us the game that otherwise could be a hard sell. For instances at the V Cup home leg vs. Ottawa last year which was included in our package, had an announced attendance of 15,175 even though the season ticket total hovered around 22,000. They used the turn style and did not try to play a game of smoke and mirrors with the number.

With this years Canadian semi-final vs. most likely Ottawa being a mid week game in late July if there option was there I am sure a number of SSH would not pick up this game and the FO knows this.

They did not even try that charade last year when season tickets were in the area of 22K. For the semi-final vs. Ottawa. Attendance was announced at 15,175 even with the 22,000 season seat holders, so they used the turn stile count and did not try and play a game of smoke and mirrors with it.

I figured that, because on the other end if the game was not included in our package and god forbid Oakville or Blainville knocked off Ottawa you could end up with maybe 10 K, more likely less down at BMO on that July evening.

Yeah I am sure it was an easy business decision and agree people would not necessarily pick up the Vcup game. I just hope they don't try to charge MLS Cup type prices for this.
