Other than how cold we'll be early on this season, I can't find anything (yet) to complain about. We open and close out at home, actually have a Canada Day home game, Montreal on a Saturday during the Ex, we do not travel to LA (either team), Seattle or Vancouver (unless for the Voyageur's Cup).

The only minor quibble I can come up with is that we don't have any home games in June.

What I am missing?

It looks pretty well spread out. Although jam packed home games in May and no June home games.

Looking forward to the L'Impact game during the CNE and May rematch with the Sounders.

Seems we host during every long weekend. Fine by me since I don't have a cottage or whatever, but I'm sure others will be less enthused.

Also if we go all the way in CCL. April will be 2 a week all month.

Someone was saying in another thread that the season this year was going to be wrapped up by the first week in November but I don't see how that is possible with the last game being on October 28th? MLS really needs to have the cup final in early November before the international break, but by the looks of it it won't be happening this year unfortunately.

The three nicest weather months to see a game are June, July and August. We have 4 home games and 10 away games in those 3 months and yet we cram 4 home games into May. To me personally that sucks. Two of our summer home games also fall on a Sunday too which is not great for me. Me likey Friday and Saturdays better.

magmadragon

There are no real issues with the Argos schedule (at least until the Voyageurs Cup games get announced). Everything is fairly spread out with at least a week apart. But yeah it does suck having so few summer home games.

Compared to last year we lost a Friday night and picked up another Saturday, lost two Wednesdays and picked up two Sundays - for those of us with kids that's nice, a few more late afternoons also is helpful for the young ones - my bet on worst selling home game of the year is March 30th against RSL - Good Friday, Passover and a crappy opponent never mind "meh" weather potentially.....I know my seats will be sold for that night for sure.....

July 1st at home and two Saturday home games during the EX is pretty sweet though - I don't remember that happening too often (2010 was the last time all three of those things came together)!

Last year we had two July and two August home games too - worked out ok I think :) --- we had two June home games last year, and this year we get Sept 1 which is basically an "extra" summer home game too - all in all we are basically out one "summer home game" (June-August), in my opinion its not too tragic a schedule in that regard -- we always tend to get skimped on for summer home games.....we also begin and end the season at home as well, which also happens rarely for us.....no major complaints here, it will never be perfect for everyone's preferences.....

Even though the US didn't quality, MLS is not stupid enough to complete for those TV numbers.

Essentialy having a game against LAFC has eliminated a third game against an eastern opponent for the most part.

The TSN listing makes me think these are the games that get regional (or more channels). TSN4 in our case, TSN1 for Vancouver. The reason I say this is because we only have 31 games listed here between TSN and CTV, while Vancouver has 34. So unless this is an omission, I think we get 3 games on TSN2 which means finding a stream for me.

But if you are a season ticket holder , thus have paid for the tickets do you then choose to voluntarily not go? I mean at the end of the day it's your choice to make I guess. In all honesty TFC has had games in the past where 5-6K tickets were simply not used by those who had them to the point where they were not always announcing their attendance by what was sold. It's bit of a head scratcher but does leave you with some questions to ask?

The stretch that immediately hits me is July

July 7 - SKC

July 14 - Orlando

July 21 - Chicago

That's 3 games in very warm environments

I also think we are away in the summer so much because TFC is now a road draw - defending champs - bad boy attitude etc. etc. etc.

not necessarily the case, last year they had a few not listed because they didn’t know whether they were going National (1, 3-5) or regional (tsn2 or 4 only) due to other commitments (ie ESPN Baseball, CFL, FIFA, etc)

Lotsa Saturday home matches. Too bad most of them are early season and late season.

'bout time we had a Canada Day home match.

Houston would be a good away trip in late April, not as hot as it would be getting close to summer. And going to Chicago in the summer is always a blast, especially as it would be the first in back to back games with the Fire.

Two home matches during the Ex. Awesome!

We have like 4 home games within 14 games during June to August... Along with the World Cup break this year in June, as always the IndyCar race rules out one weekend (if not a whole week or more) in July, and then I think the Caribbean Carnival may similarly occupy Exhibition Place for the first weekend in August.

Is a Canada Day game a good idea? I'm not a baseball person, but it seems to have become more of an annual Blue Jay thing for the general public. And I went to the TFC II game on July 1 last year in Vaughan, and there might have been less than 100 people there.

There have been many seasons with few home games in the summer, even before TFC was good. Most years I've been complaining about that. I think partly they figure TFC sells well at home even for cold / crappy early season games. Partly it's conflicts (varying from year to year), like the Honda Indy, CFL games, broadcaster preferences, whatever.

I go to every home game, but I freeze my ass off during all the early season games, especially in the evening. Not happy about that, but it's the same almost every year.

We might be away on vacation for a while this summer, so I guess fewer summer home games could be better for me this year.

We have to wait and see because there are renovations going to happen at Lamport after the Winter rentals finish up shortly.

The Wolfpack are kicked out of Lamport until May or so (Their season is essentially split right in half, their first 10 games or so are over in the UK, then the next 10 or so are here)

World Cup Break + Potentially 2 Canadian Cup home games in JuneI don't know when the Canadian Championship games are supposed to happen, but you're right, it does look like two of them (I would assume likely one home, one away) could fit into the June MLS World Cup break. If it wasn't for a L'impAct home game against Orlando scheduled for June 13, there might have been enough room for three games in the June break.
Some possible dates that appear to be open for all three Canadian MLS teams are May 29, June 5, June 16, June 19, and June 27.

There have been many seasons with few home games in the summer, even before TFC was good...
... conflicts (varying from year to year), like the Honda Indy ...
It seems some think another racing series (http://www.autosport.com/fe/news/133607/why-feEURTMs-biggest-weakness-is-a-necessary-evil) (Formula E, kicked out of Montreal by their newly-elected mayor) may be attempting to worm their way into using the Exhibition Place set-up and take up yet another July weekend, although I'm not sure that would even be possible since there's a TFC or Argo home game scheduled on all four of the other July weekends. You'd think maybe Downsview Airport, particularly now that there's a TTC subway and GO Train station there, might be a better place for the auto racing, if Bombardier could be convinced to allow it to be used for that purpose for one or two weekends a year.

I initially thought this would start earlier in the year but I guess to be fair they had to wait for Oakville and Blainville to actually have there teams together.

I just can't see a semi-pro team of mostly U23s beating a completely professional side over two legs. Maybe one leg if the Fury play kids, sure, but if they bring their full first squad and get serious, then they don't have a hope of winning the return leg. Neither will the Fury when they face TFC at BMO Field.

The more I think about I agree. I also think the Reds will do pretty much what they did last year going with a reserve squad on that turf at TD for the away leg. Especially considering it will be the middle match of three road games in 7 days. Orlando on the Saturday, Ottawa on the Wednesday and Chicago on the Saturday after. Will be a whirl wind of a week.

Heh, I plan to be at the Orlando game on Saturday, then back in time to catch the Ottawa game on Wednesday - while pulling a trailer. :)

if we make it to the final of the ACC, it means we'd have to play 13 games between july 13 and september 1st. Good thing we'll have Bradley and Alitdore.

The Amway Canadian Championship. It's the corporate name of what we called the Voyageur Cup aka VCup.

:p

I knew that, but (a) no longer Amway and (b) I was giving stick for calling the Voyageurs' Cup something corporate.

Not sure if this was already mentioned in another thread over the last week, but the TFC II home opener is Saturday March 31 at BMO Field, against Ottawa. This is a stand-alone -- not immediately following a TFC match on the same day (TFC vs Salt Lake is at BMO the night before, Fri. Mar. 30).

TFC II home games on Apr. 7, 28, May 9, July 1, 28, and August 12, appear to coincide with TFC matches at BMO, although all of the TFC II games (except the home opener) presently list venue as TBD, and no start times are listed yet for any games.

Edit: They should now be able to get very large crowds of kids at any TFC II school day games.

... renovations going to happen at Lamport after the Winter rentals finish up shortly.
The Wolfpack are kicked out of Lamport until May or so (Their season is essentially split right in half, their first 10 games or so are over in the UK, then the next 10 or so are here)Is this "renovation" only replacing the artificial turf, or possibly more, such as extending the field back into the parking lot to make it CFL-capable? I'm guessing probably not, but I wonder how bothered the owners, rest of the CFL, and TSN are by the 85% empty appearance (http://twitter.com/EmptySeatsPics/status/879107884298252288) (in spite of the ridiculously fictional attendance numbers they announce) of BMO Field for the vast majority of their games there, along with the combination grass field/artificial turf end zone, and never being able to practice there?

No, it's just the new field going in at Lamport. The Wolfpack's schedule is split because of it. I would expect the first couple TFC2 games to be at BMO.
