Hi guys,

don't know if that could be of any interest to you:

Wagenaar To Get Contract Offer

Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade has said that he is likely to offer Canadian goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar a permanent deal with the club, after impressing in pre-season friendlies.

The move is likely to give Yeovil Town two Canadian international keepers on their books, given that Asmir Begovic is now training with the Glovers and is expected to play in tomorrow's match against Weymouth. Neither keeper featured in the annual First Team photo, but Slade told the Western Daily Press that he was hoping to get Asmir signed up within the next week:

"Asmir is here and has trained with us. We hope he will put pen to paper on his loan before the start of the season. We are delighted to get him here because he impressed with us last season and we've been very patient in waiting for him."

Wagenaar will also have talks held next week, suggesting that Slade has been able to get enough budget to sign up two keepers for this season:

"Josh has impressed and we'll sit down with him. Maybe this time next week we'll have two goalkeepers."

Good luck to Josh. Most of us have only seen him during the Olympic qualifiers, when he alternately looked brilliant and terrible, usually in the same game.

He has short arms for a goal keeper. And I remember in the U-23 he had trouble clearing (booting) the ball under pressure when passed back by his defenders. He plays fearless and gives it his all, the problem is he was not given the frame of world class goalie and needs to work on some fundamentals. He could turn out decent though.

i like edwards better than wagenaar to be honest. but wags was decent... woulda been a decent second keeper to Sutts if need be.

Sounds like a prospect in a few years...

Funny that Yeovil will have the same keeper combo as Canada at the U20 WC in 2005. Well until Begovic goes back to Portsmouth at least.

He would have been better off in USL

No he wouldn't. League 1 is about MLS level.

So glad we didn't sign him. He makes waay to many mistakes. A very shaky goalkeeper.

But also a very good keeper when he is on his game. Looks like he has been on his game so far this pre-season no goals have been his fault and he's made nice saves.

Probably going to be better than Greg Sutton in a couple seasons

Didn't know Begovic was loaned again. I thought Pompey would have kept him as the backup this season. Does anyone know if they foresee him as the future first string keeper?
