All these great potential records mean zip. As Bradley has pointed out, they haven't won yet.
Barring major injuries, TFC's future is totally in their hands at this point.

On another note, I am worried that the USA national team's shitshow with Costa Rica will have a bad influence on Bradley's and Altidore's performance in TFC uniform, and not for only this coming game with SJE, but maybe for a stretch of 3-4 games.

For these guys TFC comes a distant second after the USMNT.

We only have marches for specific games, this isn't one of them. However kids are welcome at the nearby Shoeless Joe's, where a lot of us hang out pregame.

And you are basing this on what exactly? How could you possibly know that TFC comes a distant second? Sure they will be upset by the USA performance but I doubt for 1 second it will effect their performances for TFC. And yes that's just my opinion based on their level of professionalism and the desire they show every time they step on the field

Not that I know of. Neither the Innebriatti nor U-Sector have posted anything.

There likely will be something later on in the year (e.g. the playoffs, or maybe one of the Montreal games), if he wants to go again.

The innebriatti tend to do a mass walk if not a full on flares and fireworks march to most matches. They hang out at the cornerstore/food spot at Jefferson and liberty so you could check with them about an hour before the game to see if they will be in party mode or not. don't have any connections there so can't ask for you.

Hope Jozy and Mike get back into the swing quickly. They don't seem to have the down time that Morrow exhibited after his first time back in a while. We had so much momentum going before the break and I hope we don't lose that.

Osorio and Edwards were fantastic vs. Jamaica so hopefully they keep that fire as well as one or both could come off the bench if we keep the usual lineup.

I'm worried about Michael Bradley having a NT hangover like he usually does.

We're going to need everyone to step up for this game.

I have a feeling that Vanney may bring in a player or two who needs minutes. Maybe Osorio and Irwin.

I can't lie, I was happy about Jozy's suspension (about the only thing that made me happy watching that game). Not having to go down to San Pedro Sula and run around in that humidity is a gift from the soccer gods.

Not afraid to admit it, I'm a little nervous about this match. San Jose's always played our side tough, last year being a classic example. And Chris Wondolowski has been a TFC killer since suiting up for the Quakes. Between this match and the Blue Scum hosting Portland at Yankee Stadium, our side could end up three points behind after today. :P

There's been teams as dominant as this in the past. LA in 2011 and 2014, sounders the same year. granted neither of them passed the eye test like we do currently. sort of an air of inevitability every time we're on the field that we'll win.

The scary thing is that the team is so good now, that when we'll be "just" in the first 10 best in MLS, but not in the first 4, will seem almost as bad to us like in the first 7 dark years of TFC history.
We really need to fully savor this year and I really hope at least the next 1-2.

Also in work rate. They never stop trying to win back a ball. We often have two guys on someone the second they get the ball. It's like we have 22 players out there to their 11. It starts with Bradley I think.

We were seeing that game out for like 35 minutes. Hilarious.

On another note - two goals which were opened up by a defender pass. Moor with the pass to Vasquez on the Josy first goal & Mavinga got an assist on the Osorio goal. Mavinga went to the bench and was high fiving it with the subs - looked really happy. Guy has worked so hard.

And old man Moor getting back in the last few minutes to stop an SJE foray forward. These guys really want that shutout every game.

I'm pretty confident for a win. TFC has not lost at home this year, and this is not the team to change that. Spirits are high for the squad, our strikers are hot, the defense is solid.

Fingers crossed.

Toronto FC 4, San Jose 0

NYCFC 0, Portland 1

I would like the mesquite bbq Crow please.

TFC have clinched home field in the MLS Cup final against every team in the west ex Seattle.

We are 17 points ahead of Seattle, who have 7 to play.

The number that really stood out tonight was that we had 827 passes in a single game, and the team passed for 91% as a whole. That's crazy. That's pretty much total domination.

EDIT: And Bradley was crazy good: https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2017-09-09-toronto-fc-vs-san-jose-earthquakes/boxscore

I swear sometimes people just don't see what's really going on with him. He complete 96% of 127 passes. I mean, holy shit.

Vazquez's WhoScored game rating was 9.51

To bad we are not in the CCL this year. Im salivating for a TFC matchup against a top Mexican club.

There were a couple stretches towards the end of the game where Bradley & co. were basically playing catch on the half-way line which helps pad those passing stats. Still, a very dominant game.

Good point. I think we can play with any Mexican team right now.

It's good we play Montreal with playoffs on the line for them still. Watching that game yesterday I kept thinking we need a friendly or something against higher level competition to be ready for playoff intensity. It was just far too easy yesterday and the playoffs won't be like that. Montreal will be a good tune up opportunity.

Pathetic news coverage on digital papers this morning. The Star doesn't even mention TFC on "front page" - leads with CFL Calgary/Edmonton, followed by Hamilton/Ottawa, with US College football lead, US Open, and deserving TO Wolfpack.

Not everything the team tried worked but the high degree of understanding of where everyone was on the pitch, and willingness to manage the game was at a whole different level. Trying to think when I've see this much organization from a team in MLS.

Tbh tho his passes rarely open up play. No disrespect to our captain but at least 50% of those passes are back to defenders or to vasquez right beside him.

Victor Vasquez has (quietly?) made a case for our MVP this year... it's really too good to be true. I'd almost prefer if we just pretended like he didn't exist, and keep the accolades centred on Jozy and Seba. Let the man do his job without having other teams too focused on him.

Really unbelievable how good we've become this year. Never thought I'd see the day we'd be straight pummelling teams with this kind of possession. A stark change from the Preki-ball of days of yore

LOL they are confused and clueless as to what to do when a Toronto team is first into the playoffs. This sports landscape is pathetic. Thanks for checking the general media. I don't anymore now that there's choice in the matter. They become less relevant every year.

He is the first player to ever make me consider adding their name to a jersey.

I won't say that he is "the best".
But I definitely think he should be up for MVP consideration.
Hands down the best newcomer in MLS this season.

The media in town is run by old people who think soccer is a wuss sport and that the CFL is still relevant and will go to great lengths to make it so. They look at the rise of TFC and the decline of the Argo and put their fingers in their ears and go "LA-LA-LA-LA-I'M-NOT-LIST-NING-I'M-NOT-LIST-NING!!!"

Watching this team this year reminds me of watching the Keane, Donovan, Beckham side that just had so much chemistry that they managed to continually stay in games.

Never thought I'd be able to watch a team that is this dominant in their league (especially being a Toronto sports fan). Just a pure pleasure to watch right now. Keep it going Reds!

Glad Cooper got some action yesterday and though his passing was off he did add to our game (almost scored). I think it's important to have everyone in decent form going into the playoffs, even guys like Cooper.

a dominant game but have to disagree about Bradley. Made two terrible giveaways early on, each of which could have cost us a goal. Very sloppy and not like him at all. He picked it up later on but if they had scored to go up one nil it changes the game.

I'm not living in Toronto, but this is an universally valid thing.

The actual generation who is leading the sports media in TO will never get it, because in their head "soccer" (football) will be forever the 5th most important sport.
They never gave a flying fart about football when they were kids, then teenagers, then young adults, why give now when they are 40-60?

Expect a right place for TFC in the Toronto sports media only when it will be dominated and leaded by the generation who is now maximum 30 years old. How many years will that take? 10, 15, 20? I have no idea.

But be prepared that even if TFC wins the MLS cup this year, though most of the actual leaders of the sports media will cover the event, they will be very quick to forget again about TFC when the glory dust is settled in a few weeks...

This is it.
Once the old farts move on (and I'm no spring chicken, lol),
then more attention will begin to swing towards soccer.
Hopefully sooner than later.

Sun had Jozy on the cover of the Sports and game article on Pg. 2....Wolfpack was on Pg. 1...they've had far and away the best coverage for many years now....even back from the Winter/Mariner years....

What I was really loving yesterday (especially compared to dismal seasons past) was defenders who not only defend well, but hold possession even under pressure. Guys already mentioned the great passes forward leading to goals. But look at Moor did just before his pass to Vazquez. With a small smart move, he dekes out the San Jose forward trying to pressure him, ends up giving himself a ton of space & an open channel to pass to Vazquez.

Earlier there was a situation where Zavaleta was double-teamed & pressured. He didn't boot it long in panic like TFC always would have in the past, therefore giving up possession. He was able to shield the ball, then they strung together 3-4 short passes to shake off the pressure and give themselves room. Those kinds of plays were happening all game throughout our defense.

Although small, this is probably the best thing we've improved from early 2016 onwards. When we win a tackle or cause a turnover in our third the defenders are much more patient and confident with getting the ball forward and maintaining possession. Bradley excels at this because he has the technique for close dribbling and short passes and the physicality to shield the ball and get away from others with speed. Credit Vanney for getting the rest of the backline disciplined to continually do this. Watching San Jose punt it forward and then having to defend again reminded me of how we used to play.
