So with that news, guessing Ricketts and Vazquez would be inserted into the 11.

Take Vazquez off for Chapman midway through (60th minute) to save for NE.

I wonder if Morgan would be comfortable on the left of the back 3 with Morrow as the wing back (with Raheem suspended)?

---------------- Ricketts ---------- Hamilton ----------
Morrow --- Vazquez --- Cheyrou --- Osorio --- Beita
------------- Morgan ---- Moor ---- Zavaleta ---------
*****************(Hernandez)****************

Best guess I can make

Morgan played some games at wingback, I think last year, and was quite good. Him outside of Morrow would be my choice.

With Jozy not being available, I wonder if Seba will see some minutes in this one. He claims he is ready to go and from what I understand he is getting the green light for the NE game. For him to come off the bench for the last 30 would certainly shift the tide.

I can see them possibly rolling out this line up seeing as the international break is upon them.

I agree. He is one player that has shown absolutely no improvement since he came into the league. He still cannot make a cross that gets by the first defender. I cannot see him being re-signed next year.

With Delgado suspended for the weekend match at New England I think it makes sense to start him for this (assuming he can play in this while suspended in MLS, which I think he can).

The big question is what is thinking Vanney about playing Seba in New England from the start, just as a sub for last 15-25 mins (depending on the score), on not playing him at all.
He should know this already well before the Ottawa game, because this is depending just on that he's willing to risk or not a Seba injury because of the shit NE turf.
I'm sure Seba would be ready and willing to play both games full time.

If he knows he'll not play Seba at all in NE, than Seba should play 100% of the game against Ottawa.

After rushing Seba out last time and him getting reinjured because of it I doubt Vanney will play him at all this week. We're doing fine without him. Let him rest.

Seba's going to sit until after the international break. Then he's going to make DCU's lacklustre back 4 look like pylons.

The only time I feel that Vanney would use Seba is against Ottawa (ONLY if needed).

Since his injuries have been in his foot/wrist and quad, playing in NE would NOT BE GOOD AT ALL.

Auzzy
05-29-2017, 09:53 AM
Apparently Seba is a bit pissed off, feels he's ready, and already wanted to play vs. Columbus. (He posted that to Instagram.) Keeping him out two more full games might make sense, but would piss him off more. The team seemed to think he would be ready vs. NE.

shwade

NE's shitty turf is the last place you want to bring him back for his first game. I hope Vanney shows his backbone and rests him for one more week...tweaking or reinjuring is the absolute last thing Seba needs.

Trust Molinaro to get the info we are all asking about. (Mostly because he always asks about injuries so Vanney gets used to telling him everything)

The only thing I know for certain and can guarantee is that 3 out of the following 4 will start : Ricketts, Hamilton, Morgan and Osorio. My gut tells me Osorio, Hamilton and Morgan with Ricketts coming on for Seba at the half or at the hour.

Oldtimer
05-30-2017, 02:03 PM
So if you are Vanney, do you:

(1) Play Giovinco at NE, making him play on the crappy turf because it is a league match?

(2) Fearing the turf at NE, but wanting to let him play, play him for this match but not in NE?

(3) Make Giovinco wait until after the break (the most medically conservative, but pissing Giovinco off)?

Some things never change. Vancouver makes it to out of a weak group (SKC & a Trini team), beats the Red Bulls to make it to the semis.......... and still doesn't take the CCL seriously.

In essence, this means we either beat Montreal now or beat them later.

I would rather rest our starters at the NE game and let some young guys play on the NE turf and smoke Ottawa tonight with as much of our full lineup that we have available. I want TFC to win the Canadian Championship this year and return to the CCL versus not being the Canadian Champ but getting into the CCL through the one game playoff. You never know with a one game playoff anyway...anything can happen and we could lose it. Playing Montreal in a home and home is fun too.

So far this year those who scheduled the games have done their best possible to have the least fans in the stands in the first 30 minutes in a ton of games.

As a "thank you" gesture, they all need to be sent for a nice 10 month vacation in the Gulag Islands (maybe some of you know what that means), to do a bit of nice "hard labor". 6 days per week, 10 hours every workday, Sundays off.
Wage: minimal wage effective right now in Russia.

I'd rate Vazquez higher than Cooper as well.

Should be fine as long as we keep them pinned at the back while Endoh pushes up and Zavaleta provide cover for him.

First 40 mins OFC had the better chances, could have been up 2-0. Once Ricketts was subbed and they moved to the 4-3-3- then it started coming together. 3-5-2 works well when Morrow Beits or Edwards are at the sides but otherwise its a real struggle.

Not sure what happened with Gio at the end there...

The fury defender was taking the body pretty well against Seba, Seba turned around and gave him a one armed shove. The "screw off" kind and the defender went down like someone shot him. Seba was freaking out at the 4th official over the brutal simulation that should have been carded.

Vanney should be given some credit for moving out of the 3-5-2 and using a 4-2-3-1 to break down their 3 DM's. It became obvious early that they were really playing a 3-3-2-1 with 3 deep DM's. Mavinga had so much space it was like having two LB's out there. Once we went to that, they didn't look like scoring.

Tactical pragmatism when all of us were wondering why he didn't just throw in Giovinco.

Pretty good game. There were several Ottawa fans near me, and they were mesmerized a bit by the ball control displayed by TFC. We have come a long way, and Ottawa's play reminded me of our team circa 2007-2014.
A fan sitting in front of me videotaped the entire game, he was a relative of Endoah.
Hamilton, sadly, would be a better fit on the other side. He had a great opportunity to shine, and instead, withered until he was removed, after doing nothing.

That was what I expected would happen in the first leg, but this time Vanney played a first-team back three and I think that made a difference. Dalglish couldn't stop praising Vanney's subs and tactical adjustments after the game. Still, the Fury did pretty well for the first 40 minutes - they didn't look too much out of place. Looking forward to repeating the exercise next year!

He's great when everyone he's playing against is tired. That's why he's better as a super sub.
I don't mind him starting games now - we get to see what he can/can't do as a starter - but when we are in that playoff race - I expect to see him coming off the bench as per usual.

He really needs to work on his first touch. He'd be so much stronger and way more likely to start if he had one. I think someone described it as a ball bouncing off a concrete wall. That's about right.

Vanney should be given some credit for moving out of the 3-5-2 and using a 4-2-3-1 to break down their 3 DM's.

According to TFC it was a 4-4-1-1

Looked more like a 4-4-2 to me at times.

No. I thought he had a good match, and was a solid contributor. I'm only talking about last night's match.

your kidding me

hes dcent depth as an attacker but he is no winger and has no D

While I wouldn't call it a complete match, I'd say we saw glipses of what Edoh is capable of last night, maybe for the first time.

I think more USL seasoning would do him a solid. Still has to work his way up the depth chart though and wouldn't surprise me if Bez's South America trip recently is focused on finding a budget right sided player to backup Beitashour.

I think they just have to give up converting him to a RB/RWB. He just doesn't look comfortable there, even at USL level. He was immediately better after moving to RM after Beitashour came on. Goes to show how much you have to credit Edwards for pretty seamlessly moving into the LWB spot. Not every player is that flexible, and if Edwards wasn't he'd probably be in the same kind of hole that Endoh is in now.

Endoh I think is best in any role where he has some freedom to make driving runs off the ball. Increasingly he looks to me like a better player off the ball than he is on it. A good transition player with decent ability to recognize how to get into space. Putting him at RWB, where he has to be more conservative with his runs, limits his best quality. All three of his biggest contributions on the pitch last night came from him getting into good areas when he was off the ball. His movement to the near post on his goal was especially smart. His best moments for us in the past have been similar driving runs (his goal vs. Dallas where he sprinted half the length of the pitch and drove the counter-attack, and in the opener winning the penalty vs. Red Bulls by getting ahead of his man down the middle).

It's far from ideal but I would just go with Cooper as our backup RWB for now. Endoh can make the bench for games where we think we might end up playing conservatively and looking to score on the counter. I think, at least against MLS-level opposition, that the Endoh-at-RWB experiment died with the game vs. Philly. Probably brought back one too many unpleasant memories for Vanney of trying to convert Creavalle to a RB in 2015.

He really needs to work on his first touch. He'd be so much stronger and way more likely to start if he had one. I think someone described it as a ball bouncing off a concrete wall. That's about right.

ya his touch in general is horrendous - I mean, as a guy who gets touches on a ball many, many, many, times a day, you think he'd develop some sort of finesse in that aspect of the game

Does anyone have a video link of what happened between Seba and the Ottawa defender? Or did someone see it?

Hate to beat a dead horse, but the Argos play 2 days before the 2nd leg. That doesn't feel like enough time (though the grounds crew did make a 3 day turn around kinda work after the grey cup in November so who knows anymore).

You can't really see what happened on the one camera angle that catches it but ,

The defender was chirping seba after putting in a late hit (as those dirty bastards were doing all game). Seba sqaured up to him and pushes him in the chest to say "back off dickhead"* my words :)

Dude who has a foot and a half on seba goes down like he's been shot in the face. Seba gets nowhere near his face. Then another of their 6' plus dudes makes tries to make it look like seba has taken this guys' head off.....(he's like "seba, why'd you try to kill him").....it was pathetic an all of the respect I had for Ottawa went out the window right there. It was the most disgusting play acting I've seen in a very long time. Seba then chastizes the guy for a good two minutes.

If you support ottawa let your club and coach know you won't stand for that shit. I hate it when cooper gets that shit going and let them know about it as well as chirping him from the sidelines. That was pure garbage and if I was Dalgleish I would suspend the little (big) F&*k for embarrassing the team.
